3 Narrator: Once upon a time, there was a locksmith named Goldie. Goldie: I fix locks. And I make keys. Call me Goldie, if you please! Narrator: Goldie had a cozy home at the back of her shop. She was always on the job. Goldie: Have you got a lock that s always stuck? Call on me. I ll jump in my truck. Call me at night. Call in the day. I want to help you, either way. 3 /21

Narrator: Early one morning before sunup, Mo Diddly the farmer was on the phone. He had a BIG problem. Mo: Goldie! Goldie! My key has snapped! My barn is locked. My cows are trapped!

4 Narrator: Early one morning before sunup, Mo Diddly the farmer was on the phone. He had a BIG problem. Mo: Goldie! Goldie! My key has snapped! My barn is locked. My cows are trapped! I need to milk them. I need to plough. I need my tractor. Come right now! Narrator: Goldie jumped in her truck, and drove off in a flash. She had her tools but she forgot one thing. She left her door unlocked! Goldie: To turn back now would take all day. I m sure my shop will be okay. 4 /21

5 Narrator: Meanwhile, back in the forest, three bears were waking from their winter sleep. Mama Bear yawned and stretched. Brother Bear pounced on his little sister, Baby Bear. 5 /21

6 Brother Bear: Baby Bear: Mama Bear: Sister! Sister! Can you hear? The birds are singing, Spring is here! I hear the birds. I feel the breeze. Is that what Spring is? Tell me, please. Spring means there is lots to eat. Right now, in fact, I smell a treat! Narrator: Goldie was done. Mo s barn was open, and the door had a brand-new lock. She was packing her tools when her cell phone rang. It was the principal of Lakeside School. Polly Doodle: Goldie? Hurry! Help me, do! All the locks are stuck with glue! Come right now and don t be late. The bell will ring at half past eight! 6 /21

Narrator: Goldie dashed back to her truck and drove away. There was no time to go back to her shop in the forest. Meanwhile, the bears were following the smell of food. It came from Goldie s Locks.

The three bears peeked in the window. Brother Bear: Baby Bear: Brother Bear: Baby Bear: Mama Bear: What is this place? Is it a cave? I want to go in. I can be brave! We re in luck. I don t see the truck. No one is here. The coast is clear! 7 /21

8 Narrator: Mama Bear knew her front doors. She put her big paw on Goldie s door handle and pushed it down. And because the door wasn t locked it opened! Mama Bear: Brother Bear: Baby Bear: Brother Bear: Baby Bear: Brother Bear: This must be our lucky day! There s food in here. I ll lead the way! What kind of food? Will it be good? Will it be fatty? And salty? Crunchy? 8 /21

9 Baby Bear: Mama Bear: And sweet? Yes, there will be bread, butter, Fruit juice and meat! Enter, children, but beware: A house is tricky for a bear. 9 /21

10 Narrator: The shop had many shelves. There were tools and a machine for cutting keys. But the bears wanted something to eat! Mama Bear: Brother Bear: These boxes smell too dull and dry. This metal taste is odd, no lie! 10 /21

11 Narrator: Baby Bear clambered onto the work bench. Baby Bear: I do not like this oily smell. It makes my tummy feel unwell. 11 /21

12 Narrator: There was no food in the workshop. The bears wandered into Goldie s livingroom. Mama Bear: Brother Bear: Pottery, paper, silver, wood Nothing here is any good. This rocking chair is lots of fun. Mama! Please, can we get one? 12 /21

Mama and Brother Bear followed. There was no food in the livingroom, anyway.

13 Baby Bear: What did I do? What are those cheers? Turn this thing off! It hurts my ears! Narrator: Baby Bear ran away from the noise. Mama and Brother Bear followed. There was no food in the livingroom, anyway. And they were so hungry! Mama Bear: There s no food here. No cake. No pie. Ouch! That perfume sprayed my eye! 13 /21

14 Brother Bear: Baby Bear: There s no food here. No pie. No cake. Help! I m tangled. What a mistake! Here is something sweet and pink. Oh, yuck! It s awful! I need a drink. 14 /21

Narrator: There was no food in the bedroom or the bathroom. The bears wandered into Goldie s kitchen. And there on the table was a feast to end all feasts!

Mama Bear: Brother Bear: Baby Bear: What is that? I smell rich fat! What a treat! Something sweet! Munch! Crunch! Crunch! Munch! Narrator: Meanwhile, Goldie was on her way back to the shop. After a busy morning, she was looking forward to her lunch. 15 /21

16 Goldie: Working here, working there I m as hungry as a bear! Narrator: Goldie parked her truck. She saw her open door! 16 /21

18 Narrator: Goldie went into the shop. Goldie: My shop! My keys, and all my gear! Someone has made a mess in here. Narrator: Goldie went into her livingroom. Goldie: Books and papers everywhere. And someone broke my rocking chair! 18 /21

19 Narrator: Goldie went into her bathroom. Goldie: I didn t make this mess, I hope. Someone has nibbled on my soap! Narrator: Goldie went into her kitchen. And what did she see? 19 /21

20 Goldie: Someone has emptied every jar. And, oh, my goodness. There they are! Narrator: The three full bears were asleep on Goldie s back deck. Goldie screamed! The bears took off! Poor Goldie. She had to clean up the bears mess. She never even had lunch, because the bears had eaten everything up! 20 /21

21 All: The three bears rushed Back to their den. They never returned To Goldie s again. For Goldie (and you) Here s the point of our story: Lock your doors Or you ll be sorry! THE END 21 /21
