She's an advisor and dramaturg for the Harbor Playhouse in Corpus Christi and graphic designer for the Mad Dog Theatre Company in New York City. She currently serves as Communications Coordinator for the Association of Theatre for Higher Education (ATHE) TLA Interest Group and Interim Secretary for TTAO. She's directed over 200 plays and musicals at the professional, collegiate, and high school level--including 4 one-acts that competed at the UIL State 5A Division. CYNTHIA SORELLE is a Theatre Professor at McLennan College. She holds a Ph.D. in Theatre History and Criticism from the University of Texas at Austin. She served on the TETA Adjudicators Organization Standards Committee and Administrative Committee and has adjudicated numerous festivals and play contests at every level, including UIL state. She served as Secretary, TETA Board of Directors and was a recipient of the 2000 Texas Educational Theatre Association Founder's Award. Dr. SoRelle is also a recipient of the University of Texas/NISOD Teaching Excellence Award. A member of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education, she served as Dramaturgy Conference Planner, Focus Group Representative, and for 15 years has chaired the Dramaturgy Debut competitive panel. She is in her second three-year term (2012-2015) as Chair, Board of Directors, Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA), an association comprised of academic and professional dramaturgs in the United States and Canada. She served as KCACTF Region VI Dramaturgy Competition Chair on three occasions and Director of the O'Neill Critics Institute in 2011. She was the UIL State College Consultant for Poetry and Prose for 12 years. SCOTT VERNON is retired from teaching theatre for 34 years. He has served as Texas director for the International Thespian Society and is a member of ETA, TSTA, TETA. I have directed 34 UIL OAPs including Playboy of the Western World, 2002 State Champion in 5A and Equus in 2010 State Meet finalist. I feel that UIL OAP builds the spirit and confidence of all involved. Scott is currently the Performing Arts Center Director at Lee College in Baytown, Texas.

Performance order was determined by a random and witnessed draw. 1-A refers to Districts 25 and 28. 1-B refers to Districts 26 and 27. The second letter refers to the play title in each Bi- District that is first alphabetically, excluding articles. B is the play title in each Bi-District that is second alphabetically. C is the play title in each Bi-District that is third alphabetically. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled rehearsal time. ELIGIBILITY NOTICE: Eligibility information is all online. Be sure and check that all of your information has been correctly verified. And since time is short, and since the download of student information from the UIL website is in alphabetical order instead of in order of appearance, please email a word document of your program information to mavila6@saisd.net JUDGE S SCRIPT: Please Overnight Express your script to each of the judges as soon as possible! It is important that you give special instructions that scripts are delivered without a signature. LOAD IN, LOAD OUT, and DRESSING ROOMS: Please enter the campus from Wilson Blvd. into the Faculty/Staff Parking Lot adjacent to the track/field. Proceed to the end of the parking lot and take a right turn through the narrow street behind the auditorium. Jefferson Theatre students will be there to guide and direct you to the loading dock. Upon arrival, a Jefferson Theatre student escort will lead your company to an assigned classroom. This will be your dressing room for the duration of your visit. No one but you, your students, and your Jefferson escort will have access to this room. Please note that the restrooms at Jefferson High School do not have mirrors and you are highly encouraged to bring your own. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION: On the day of the contest, please bring the following: -Proof of Royalty Payment -Community Standards & Compliance Form -State approval for plays not on the approved list -License to perform and cut from publisher -Set addition approval -Proof of Contest Fee payment (either check or copy of mailed check) -Music Log -Highlighted script with sound cues marked -Any pertinent permissions you have received from State Office to produce your play
UNIT SET: A standard UIL Unit Set will be available for your use. This does NOT include a door unit, window unit, or French Doors. If you need any of these, please bring your own. LIGHTING AND SOUND: At the end of this document are copies of the STAGE DIAGRAM and LIGHTING PLOT. Our light board is an EDI BIJOU 48/96, located at the rear of the house. Lights are set to 15 areas, fairly identical to the UIL State configuration. A complete sound system is available at the rear of the house. It has a dual CD player along with an input for laptops/netbooks/ipods. You may bring your own portable sound system to operate from backstage. A wired communication system is available for your students to communicate from backstage to the light and sound desks. ADMISSION FEE: Audience members should be prepared to pay $7 for entry to the contest. This includes faculty, staff, administrators, and parents of the competing schools. Box office will be cash only. Your company will receive complimentary passes. AWARDS AND CRITIQUES: Awards and critiques will occur soon after the last performance. All company members are required to attend the critique.
