TECHNICAL RIDER (Page of ) PERFORMANCE SPACE A climate controlled theatre with a clean stage at least 0 wide by 5 deep. Stage access from main seating area is necessary, as some audience members will be invited on stage to participate in the show. Please see attached stage plot. SOUND Please provide a sound system suitable for the size of venue. The artist travels with a Shure wireless lavalier microphone and a MPTech remote control music system. - PA inputs (/ or XLR ) - (preferably in the stage right wing) and a direct box are required, plus an additional mic on a straight stand. A small side fill monitor, (hidden in stage L wing) is requested. LIGHTING See attached lighting plot, and LX cues. NOTE: Please have specified lights hung and washes focused BEFORE technical rehearsal. Specials can then be focused during tech. CREW One Sound operater One Lighting operater (+ follow spot operator for 5 minutes if doing flying routine) Two (or three) Stage-Hands (see below) NOTE: One of the stage-hands should be an experienced flyman. (see FLYING ROUTINE) A stagehand will be necessary to load weights on arbor during rehearsal, (and unload after the show). A third stagehand is necessary in double purchase houses to assist with flying routine. Also, the main curtain will need to open during flying routine (an extra stagehand may be necessary for this in some theatres). SET UP TIME 5 / hours before house opens (ie: if house opens at 7:0 for an 8:00pm show, tech should start at :00 pm, or earlier if a dinner break is to be factored in). STRIKE Approximately an hour and a half after performance. Mr. Kaplan will be happy to meet, greet and sign autographs after the show upon request. Please note this may add to strike time. DRESSING ROOM Clean, well-lit, private room with washroom, and mirror. HOSPITALITY Please provide litres of cold water, juice, coffee, fresh fruit, and cheese and crackers upon arrival. Please provide sandwiches for a light meal prior ( /hr.) to performance. *please note there will only be one or two of us in the company.
Great Kaplan Show TECHNICAL RIDER Page of FLYING ROUTINE (Optional) In theatres where it is possible, Mr. Kaplan s entrance will be a vertical descent from the fly to center stage. This is accomplished by attaching wires with a seat harness to a dedicated batten and raising and lowering the batten using existing counterweight system. (see pg. - Flying Routine). Rigging assembly, and rehearsal for flying will take about hour. Theatre will need to provide light fog or haze for for flying routine. METAL FOLDING CHAIR Theatre will need to provide a standard metal folding chair. OPEN FLAME PERMIT During the show, a Zippo lighter will be lit on stage to pretend to light a cigar. Later the lighter will be used to burn a small coin envelope in an ashtray. Please secure any necessary permission for this to take place as this is an integral part of the performance. Also, during the show, an anemic puff of smoke is emitted from a custom metal attachment to Mr. Kaplan s prop case. This is accomplished by igniting a miniscule pinch of smoke powder via electric match. DIRECTIONS Please provide directions to the performance site with returned agreement. REPRODUCTION OF PERFORMANCE Photography, filming, videotaping or other reproduction of the performance are prohibited without the consent of Mr. Kaplan prior to the performance. --Please see that your head technician receives a copy of this rider to confirm and check mark that all requirements can be met. Great Kaplan Show TECH RIDER - (FLYING ROUTINE) Page of Mr. Kaplan will be attached (via cables) to a dedicated batten, and lowered to deck using existing counterweight system. To balance batten when Mr. Kaplan is NOT attached, a counterweight will be attached to the batten via a third cable in the wing. Mr. Kaplan will provide all cables, harness, spansets and connectors. Venue will need to provide 60 lbs. of free counterweights. Venue will also need to provide a standard metal folding chair. For a double purchase system you will need three men. One for the fly floor. One for the Loading Bridge to put 0 pounds on arbor and to stay there to help pull the purchase line in and out. One for the deck to work the bull line and clip on the substitute weight. For a single purchase system you should only need two men. One for the fly floor and one for the deck. The person on the deck will have to go to the loading bridge to load counter weights then come down to work the bull line and clip on the substitute weight. Prior to the flying bit, a small amount of haze or fog is requested to pick up the lighting, and provide atmosphere. Please provide hazer or fogger for this. Rigging Procedure. Bring in batten. Attach two cables each ft. off of center. Attach third cable and bull line in wing on the same side of the stage as the fly rail.. Weight arbor with either 0 or 60 pounds.
