The group rehearses on Monday evenings (6:30-8:30 pm) at Hersey beginning in August through mid-march. Don t miss this great opportunity to be involved in show choir! Information Meeting: Monday May 22 6:30 pm Hersey Orchestra Room For more information, call (847) 718-4942 Make new friends from other area schools! Have fun performing at concerts and competitions!

Dear Students & Parents: April 24, 2017 Hersey s Choir Department is excited to announce auditions for CenterStage, our middle school show choir! Enrollment if open for students attending District 214 feeder middle schools. All students who will be in 6 th, 7 th or 8 th grade next school year at those schools are eligible to be part of the group regardless of which high school they will be attending later. Both boys and girls are encouraged to get involved. The show choir is under the direction of the former Hersey choral director, Tim Heck. The group will rehearse once a week on Monday evenings from 6:30 8:30pm at Hersey High School. Rehearsals begin in August and run through mid-march. The cost is approximately $795 (based on membership) which covers the costs of the director, choreographers, costumes, t-shirts, music arrangements, professional musicians, rehearsal space rental and insurance, and competition costs (fees and bus). We have a payment schedule so that you will not be responsible for payment of the entire balance at one time. CenterStage will compete in two competitions in February or March and will be the host group for the Middle School competition at Chicagoland Showcase held at Hersey March 2, 2018. CenterStage will also perform at Hersey Choir Concerts in October, December and March. There will be a CenterStage workshop this summer, (dates are to be determined), during which you will learn a song and dance that will be performed at the October Concert. CenterStage is in no way meant to replace your middle school choir. It is important that the student continue in choir class to help learn good singing technique. There will be a clinic on Monday, May 22 in the JHHS Choir where students will learn the song and dance that they will audition with later in the week. During this same time there will be a MANDATORY parent information meeting at 6:30 PM in the Hersey Orchestra Room for all parents whose sons/daughters are interested in auditioning for the group. While the students are learning the audition song and dance. parents will simultaneously be in a meeting covering what will be involved in the commitment to CenterStage in terms of time and finances should you decide to audition. Auditions will be held in the Black Box Theatre at Hersey (by Door 36 at the back of the school) on either May 24 or May 25 you can sign up to attend any of these days. The 30 minute audition will consist of singing a short song for Mr. Heck (see attached music) and performing the choreography to a short dance with a small group. If you are interested, please complete the attached form and return it to my assistant, Joann Langley, by May 19. You may direct questions to her at 847-718-4942. Looking forward to hearing from you, Sara Michael Choral Director John Hersey High School
