HELLO! DEPOT PARK is a 32-acre public park featuring a custom play area, an underwater-cavern-inspired splash pad, picnic pavilions, a water s edge promenade with scenic overlooks, bicycle and walking trails, open lawns, a historic depot building, the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention, restrooms, and parking facilities. Depot Park offers rental spaces for special events such as birthdays, family reunions, corporate events, festivals, community gatherings, and more. RENTABLE AREAS & FEES 1. Pavilions A & B 2. Mobile Stage Shaded Pavilions A and B are adjacent to the parking lot, restrooms, and Children s Play Area. You can rent one, or you can rent both. Each features three picnic tables with seating for 18-24 people and two grills. Pavilions do not have electrical outlets or running water. SIZE Each pavilion is 24 x 24. Our Sound Shell Stage offers convient setup and excellent sound projection. PA system is not provided. More details upon request. SIZE 14 x 36 $425 for 2 hours (ask for more rates) AVAILABILITY Pavilions are rented in four-hour blocks. Please set up and clean up within that fourhour block. Promenade The concrete walkway along the picturesque pond. The East and West Overlooks are included with this rental. RENTABLE AREAS & FEES 4. West & East Overlook Adjacent to the Promenade, the circular overlooks are available for smaller events, weddings, and ceremonies. $40 per hour, two-hour minimum $40 5. The Hill Large open hill centrally located in the park. Ideal for concerts, corporate events, and more. SIZE Approximately 37,705 sf $125 per hour, two-hour minimum $125 6. Children s Area Flatcar Stage Small stage great for small-scale events such as educational activities, puppet shows, or others. Seats 12-15 people. [ Note: Food is not allowed in the Children s Play Area. ] STAGE SIZE Approximately 8 x12 $25 for 2 hours (for school groups, contact us) $25 7. Ideal for larger events, such as festivals, games, and company picnics. $125 per hour, two-hour minimum $125 9. Little Lawns (A, B & C) Small open grassy areas ideal for small tabling events, games, and gatherings. [ Note: Little Lawn A, B, and C are rented separately. ] $40 per hour, each lawn, two-hour minimum $40 Open concrete area located directly in front of the Pop-A-Top General Store. Ideal location for pop-up and tabling events. SIZE Approximately 30 in diameter $40 per hour, two-hour minimum $40 11. Historic Depot Building Leased by Double 18, inc., this beautiful space was the former train depot. It features an open interior event space that is ideal for receptions, showers, meetings, or corporate events. FAQ Q: ARE THERE ELECTRICAL OUTLETS AVAILABLE FOR USE DURING MY EVENT? A: The Pavilions do not have electrical outlets. However, located along the Promenade, we have electrical outlets available to use for a fee. Q: CAN I DECORATE THE PAVILIONS FOR MY EVENT? A: Decorate as much as you would like with festive garland and such, but only attach things by tape to avoid damaging the wood. A piñata hook is provided in each of the pavilions. Glitter and confetti are not permitted in Depot Park. Q: CAN I HIRE A DJ OR BRING SPEAKERS? A: You may use a battery-powered device at a reasonable volume, although we ask that you not use your devices during scheduled programming. A City or Depot Park employee may ask you to turn down your device at any point. Q: ARE THERE ANY GRILLS AVAILABLE AT THE PARK? A: There are two grills located at each of the Pavilions. They are available to the party renting the pavilion, or, if the pavilions are not being rented, they are on a first come, first served basis. Personal grills are allowed in the park. Depot Park does not provide a place to dispose of your charcoal, so whatever you bring in, you must also take out. Q: CAN I BRING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES TO MY EVENT? A: Alcohol is only permitted during special events that have been granted the proper permits. For this permit, contact Krystal Martin at GPD, martinkr@cityofgainesville.org. Q: CAN I BRING A POP-UP TENT? A: Yes. However, tents cannot be staked into the ground because Depot Park is a brownfield site. Please secure the tent with weights. Q: CAN I RENT A BOUNCE HOUSE FOR THE PARK? A: Bounce houses are not permitted in Depot Park.
FAQ Q: I AM PLANNING A LARGE AND SOMEWHAT COMPLICATED EVENT. CAN YOU TALK ME THROUGH WHAT I WILL NEED? A: Sure! Our staff is available to answer your questions and assist you with planning your event. Contact us either through email at depotparkgainesville@gmail.com or call us at. Q: CAN I GET MARRIED IN DEPOT PARK? A: Yes! The West Overlook is an ideal location in the park to get married. The Pavilions or the Historic Depot Building Event Space offer rental space for reception. To reserve the West Overlook or Pavilions, email depotparkgainesville@gmail.com. For rental information on the Depot Q: WHEN WOULD I NEED TO ACQUIRE A PERMIT? A: You will need to apply for a permit if you are serving alcohol, charging admission, selling goods or food, impacting traffic in any way, or having a larger event, such as a concert, that would require electric and noise permits. For permits, contact Krystal Martin, Gainesville Police Department, martinkr@ cityofgainesville.org. If your event has more than 500 attendees, you will be required to provide portable restrooms. You will need to coordinate this with the Depot Park Manager. For more information, email depotparkgainesville@gmail.com Q: HOW LONG ARE THE TRAILS? A: The outer most trail is a picturesque 0.8-mile loop. Our trail connects to the Gainesville-Hawthorne Rail to Trail.
FAQ Q: DO I NEED TO RESERVE A PICNIC TABLE? A: Individual picnic tables that are located throughout the park are available on a first come, first served basis to park users. Q: ARE DOGS ALLOWED IN DEPOT PARK? A: Dogs are allowed only when leashed. There are no off-leash areas. No pets except service dogs are allowed in the Children s Play Area. Q: CAN I FISH AT DEPOT PARK? A: Fishing is NOT allowed in Depot Park. The ponds are lined with a plastic liner which can easily be damaged by hooks. PLEASE NOTE Only authorized vehicles are allowed in the park. Weapons, fireworks, and illegal drugs are not allowed in the park. If your event has more than 500 attendees, you will be required to provide portable restrooms. You will need to coordinate this with the Depot Park Manager. Keep the language and content during public programming PG, there are kids around! You must apply for a permit if you will be amplifying sound, serving alcohol, charging admission, selling goods or food, or if you need electricity or are impacting traffic in any way. Alcoholic beverages are only permitted for events that have received the required permits from the City, or on the premises of the Depot Building (Pop-A-Top General Store & Box Car). If you rent a space and would like to get your deposit back, make sure the space is clean and undamaged when you leave.
