The duration of each item must be accurately timed and indicated on the entry form. This information is essential when compiling the programme. Each participant may enter three (3) items in the serious music section including the programme. Each participant may enter three (3) items in the light music section including the programme. No participant will be allowed to perform more than once in an item. The same song / piece may not be presented in more than one section. The use of a microphone in the light music section is compulsory (Irrespective of age) as candidates are adjudicated on mic technique. All works must be presented memorised. Movement and choreography is encouraged in the light music section. Please ensure that pieces entered as Own Composition are indeed, original. Where a poem is set to music, the poet s name must be indicated at registration. Participants found guilty of plagiarism will be disqualified. Electronic Keyboards may only be used as accompaniment for soloists. CD INFORMATION 2015 Music Vocal 1 / 5
Only Writable CD s (CD-R) will be accepted as backtracks. Please do not use rewritable CD s (CD-RW), as they can be extremely unreliable. A tape recorder is not available. The duration of the item may not exceed the stipulated 4 minutes. The sound technician will reserve the right to fade the music. Each CD must be clearly labelled with the participant s name, track number and item number. After registration, please hand the CD to the sound engineer in the sound room, at the back of the theatre. The sound engineer will not be responsible for returning CD s, so please make sure that they are collected at the end of the session. CLASSICAL MUSIC SECTION No classical song may be sung using a microphone. Acoustic accompaniment must be used. A capella is allowed. No cellphone or backtrack accompaniment will be allowed. Any language is allowed. A Medal may be awarded to the winning participant achieving a minimum of 85% and winner will be invited to perform at a soiree. Performers must be dressed appropriately.
