Aout the music When Hungarian comoser Bela Bartok (8895) collected the olk music o Yugoslavia in the early art o this century, he noted the ethnic origin o each tune. This is ortunate or us, ecause no Yugoslavia has een divided y strie into searate nations, one o hich is Bosnia. Though there are several tunes identiied as Bosnian in Bartok s collection, only to are used in this setting. The irst occurs in the clarinets in measure 7, and is only our ars in length. The other tune occurs in the trumet solo in mm. 7. All other material is original and as ritten to ind the to olk songs together in this iece. The temo at the eginning is not ast, ut should not drag either. At m., the temo should e slightly aster and the overall style calls or more o a lit. At m. 67, return to the oening temo. At m. 75, the uer oodinds, mallets and snare drum should e light and lited in style, hile all the remaining instruments are laying longer values ith slight sacing.
