JUST CHATTING December 2014 News at a glance CHATS newsletter to go bi-monthly Jetty Memorial Theatre Christmas Party Thu 18 Dec. RSVP 6652 8088 Date for the AGM 14th Feb 2015 Auditions Jan 31/Feb 1 for Death of a Salesman Monthly Newsletter for CHATS Productions Inc., PO BOX 111 Coffs Harbour NSW 2450. www.chats.org.au info@chats.org.au Liz, Lloyd and Ray getting into the spirit of things at the CHATS/CHMCC Champagne Christmas Brekkie last week. Good time was had by all but if you missed it MERRY CHRISTMAS all the same. Yay! President s Report December 2014 In the words of the late John Lennon, so this is Christmas and look what we ve done, three plays are over and a new one s just begun. CHATS has once again shown it is prepared to give people a go, with two new directors making a debut. Congratulations to Penny and Emilia on jobs well done. Once again our thanks go out to Front of House, Technical and all those people who work backstage to help bring our productions to fruition. All the hours of work are appreciated by the cast members and the audiences that watch. To all the actors that have given their time and worked so hard to make sure the audience get their money's worth of entertainment. Thank you to my fellow committee members who are always ready to put CHATS first and work so hard behind the scenes to make it all happen. Lastly thank you to David, Natalie and Hilary for making the JMT a great place to perform, we look forward to doing it all again next year. Speaking of 2015 we start in April with Shirley directing Mums the Word Teenagers already well into rehearsal. I am up next directing Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman, which will be on in July. I will be looking to audition in the last week of January - watch for a date. Emilia is back for more punishment in October directing David Williamson s Birthrights. It was great to catch up with everyone at the combined CHATS/CHMCC Xmas brunch at the sheds. We had a good turn up and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks to Marty, Lehanne and Penny for helping out with the cooking and catering. Don t forget to show your support for the last local production of the year by going to see go Scrooge the Musical. Good luck to David and the cast. That s it for me for 2014 see you all next year. Regards Rex Madigan. Page 1

First Production in 2015 Mum s The 2 Word Teenagers! On stage at the Jetty Memorial Theatre, Coffs Harbour 8-19 APRIL 2015 MTW2 - Teenagers! Page 2 The show has been cast and what a line up! There are a few faces from the first Mum s the Word - Vanessa Crossley, Penny Dennis, Becky Cole. Plus there s a familiar face or two - Wendy Jeffery, Karolyn Gibson, Arlene Cole, and Ann Poidevin. And, then, there s a couple of newbies to CHATS - Kyria and Alison But more about them in later issues. The cast have already started rehearsals and are learning their monologues with gusto and no small amount of giggles. We can promise you some mmm how shall I say it? Interesting episodes, such as a featured live broadcast from Radio C-MUM and a gang of superheroes the like of which you will never have seen before unless, like me, you had a mis-spent youth. No spoilers here. You will just have to come along and see the show, then all will be revealed. And for those of you who think that means there ll be a bit of exposed flesh (as there was in the first one), well that rather depends on how well rehearsals go and how darn hot we can look between now and April. More Xmas Party Page 2

Page 3 Yet more Xmas Party fun! Coffs best cooks! Newsletter change From January next year, your CHATS newsletter is going to go bi-monthly. That means that you will get six newsletters a year instead of the current 12. I hope this is not too disappointing for you, but please be assured that we will still continue to let CHATS members know of important events and news via your email. So, please make sure you renew your membership for 2015 (renewal form attached) and give your up-to-date email address. Auditions for Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller will be held on: Saturday 31 January and Sunday 1st February at a venue to be advised. If you are interested to attend and would like more details about the play, please contact the Director, Rex Madigan on 0421 756618. Whether you are an actor or would just like to be considered for a backstage role, please come along to find out more about the play, performance dates and to meet other cast/crew members. Page 3
