MUSIC CLASSES The Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts 2017-2018 SCHEDULE OF CLASSES School Year: September 24, 2017 June 09, 2018 Our 30-week program runs from September through June. Classes meet once a week. Student must attend only their registered day and time. The tuition listed for each class is for the entire school year. There is a $45 registration fee for each new student (not included in tuition below). Tuition payments may be divided into six monthly installments. A child s age is taken into consideration in determining appropriate classes. Please visit our website for information on adult private instruction and group classes. This Schedule of Classes is subject to change. The Preparatory Center reserves the right to cancel any class for which there is insufficient enrollment. Students may be assigned to groups or may form their own ensembles in classical or jazz styles. Each group will receive coaching from a faculty member. Students will learn how to structure songs, write catchy melodies and harmonies, and record and manipulate sounds with apps. 1:00-2:00 $450 3

LIVE ACTION FILM MAKING Have a blast making an actual movie! Students experience all stages of production, including acting and casting each other, scripting and dealing with props. The class will guide the students through using the equipment and editing their own movie projects in our computer lab. 11:45-12:45 $450 THEATER Theater Games and Improvisation Introduction to acting using theater games, story dramatization, improvisation, and movement. For ages 6-12 Musical Theater Workshop Drawing from classic and current musical theater repertoire, this workshop is especially designed as an introduction to acting, singing and dancing skills. Emphasis will be placed on developing technique and stage presence, while students learn song-and-dance combinations for the end of the year performance. Advanced Musical Theater Focusing on virtuosity and presentation, the class aims to create a drama piece around the instrumentalists, actors, dancers and singers. Designed to develop musicians, singers, dancers, and actors into well-rounded artists who can compete in the performance arts high school and college settings. 1:15-2:15 3:15-4:45 $825 1:30-3:00 $825 DANCE Itty Bitty Ballet First dance class for children. Exploring movement and body awareness in a lively and nurturing group setting. For ages 3-5 Ballet Basics Minimal dance class experience recommended. Introduction to ballet technique. Ballet B Approval of instructor and minimum of two years of ballet training required. For ages 6-10 Contemporary Dance Class offers a mix of the basic principles of ballet technique and contemporary movement. Jump and Move Introduction to hip hop and jazz styles. Hip Hop Exploration of urban dance. For ages 4-8 3:15-4:15 9:30-10:15 1:00-1:45 Itty-Bitty Ballet: leotard, tights and ballet shoes (any color). Sweat pants, loose shirts and ballet shoes also accepted. Ballet Basics and all other Ballet classes: black or pink leotards, black or pink tights, and pink leather ballet shoes. Skirts are optional. (Oversized clothing and jewelry are not permitted.) Contemporary Dance: all-black leotards, footless tights, leggings, shorts, t-shirts or tanks. Bare feet. Combo Classes, Jump & Move, Hip Hop and Tap: comfortable clothing, sneakers (Jump & Move and Hip Hop Classes), tap shoes (Tap Class) and ballet & tap shoes (Combo Classes). AUDITION PREP Students in theater, music and dance receive individualized guidance in preparing for auditions to performing arts middle schools, high schools, and colleges.
