About The Chorus The South Windsor Community Chorus members share a desire to provide entertainment, musical growth and education, personal challenge, creativity, and community service. The Chorus welcomes voices (with or without musical background) from South Windsor and the surrounding towns. This organization originally began in 1971 as Friends of Music. Bobbie Reeves (Director) and Karen Krinjak (Accompanist) volunteered their services to help raise money for band uniforms for the South Windsor High School. Today, membership ranges from 40 to 50 singers from towns throughout the region. The Chorus performs two major concerts a season, winter and spring, as well as shorter programs throughout the community. Our repertoire consists of light classical, popular show tunes, and traditional numbers. The group is sponsored in part by the Recreation Department of the Town of South Windsor, through the generosity of companies and organizations in the community, as well as by members of the chorus themselves. The Chorus awards its Friends of Music $500 scholarship each year, to a graduating Senior of South Windsor High School, pursuing a career in music. Carol Ballard Joyce F. Stage, Lighting, Sound and Video Crews The South Windsor Recreation Department From The President This is my 18th year as President of the SWCC. They continue to amaze me with their dedication and talent. The SWCC continues to stretch the limits with the music we perform. This concert came together quite nicely despite the long winter and missed rehearsals due to weather. We have some new members that have added their talent and inspiration to our group. We hope you enjoy Our Night at the Movies concert and that it brings back fond memories of the movies they represent. I hope that everyone has a safe and peaceful summer and I look forward to seeing everyone again for our winter concert in January 2018. Come out and sing with us, it is an experience that you will never forget!! - Lee From The Director I feel like soundtrack music is almost like seeing the movie again, but with my ears Dave Attell Tonight we perform for you popular Movie songs; music that when you hear it you can t help but think of a special someone, or a special place. Perhaps a soundtrack reminds of the laughs you had with a good friend or saddens you a special person no longer in your life. Without a soundtrack, the movie is only a shell of itself. The music provides the connection, the soul, the memory. I hope that in the movie selections I have chosen tonight you find a connection all of these things. - Susan
