s MFD/LRL Generators SOFTWARE UPDATES: Archeosurveyor-Lt Version 2.58 now has real time for X, Y mode and GPS mode. It still has download as before. FIRMWARE UPDATES: Current> Version 2.a for Arc-Geo Logger has real time serial output. Version 2.a for Pro logger has real time added for X, Y and GPS logging in menu for logging in GPS mode. Both units display Press start in software then yes on logger to start the real time logging. Note: If you are not using real time logging, press the yes on logger to log normal. Version 1.s This version has the following functions added. 9/21/06 Removed ATP from software. Added 200ms pause in manual. Very low battery warning. Version 1.r This version has the following functions added. 4/29/06 Speed up erase and download 10x faster. Version 1.q This version has the following functions added. Release Date: Friday, February 24, 2006 1. If you do not want to use the auto trigger point feature ATP, when you see the screen, press DEL/NO to bypass ATP. If you want to use ATP, set as before. Note: ATP was added for the 2-box problem of de-tuning when the detector was hit. 2. During the grid setup screen, as you adjust the grid size DAIG will show to give you a rough distance to square the grid across the corners. DIAG is shown as sample size. So if you are setting the grid in feet then DAIG is feet, yards and so on. Version 1.p This version has the following functions added. Release Date: Thursday, January 26, 2006 2
s MFD/LRL Generators 1. Corrected a bug on redo grid. The used grid value would add. Corrected code and tested. Version 1.o This version has the following functions added. Release Date: Thursday, May 19, 2005 1. Because of problems with the two box type detectors going out of tune when hit by something when logging, I had to find a way to let the user know of that condition. So I added an auto trigger point ATP to the firmware. Here is how the trigger point is set. After you set the grid X, Y size and press yes, another window will show the ATP value on the first line and the target data on the second line. You can either pass over a surface target or note the data value or turn the unit to the battery test position and note the data value. This is the value you need to set the ATP to using the Y control. After you set the ATP value press the log button and you will exit to the log screen. Now when you are in auto mode and the data value is => the ATP the unit will beep for 5 seconds and stop logging at that spot. You can check to see if it is a real target or a false sound from the detector getting hit. The sample that caused the trigger was not logged. The screen will show the current position. You can delete to the beginning of the row if it was a false sound and start again or if it was a real target you can switch to manual and log the target manually and then switch to auto for the remaining rows. This feature will save you time in having to redo the grid by letting you correct a problem when it happens. If you do not want to use the ATP, simply adjust to the highest setting to avoid a trigger condition. The problem has been with the 2 box machines. No problems have been reported with others. The reason the problem takes place is because the 2 box samples the field from both coils and holds that value. When a target enters the field the value change and sound indicates a target. When a stick or rock hits the coil so that the coil is jarred enough, it will change the set point of the value and act like a target is present when there is no target. The detector is just out of tune. Version 1.n This version has the following functions added. Release Date: Wednesday, February 16, 2005 1. The auto/manual switch has another function when downloading to the computer. When in manual position, the data output is set for the Arc-geo down loader software. When the switch is in the auto mode, the data output has the size of the grid at the beginning and end in the data for that grid. This setting is for the new Snuffler that will allow you to down load directly into Snuffler! So if you want to keep using the Arc-Geo down loader software, the switch should be in the manual position. 3
s MFD/LRL Generators 2. I added a dummy button when in manual mode and logging. You cannot use the dummy button in auto mode. The dummy will place the dummy value of 1024 in the X, Y position when pressed. The dummy button is the d/load button. This button is only active when in the manual mode and logging. This is useful when a tree or a wall is in the plot. The dummy button is press in place of these objects according to the object sampling space. So if you have a wall that is 6 feet long and you are sampling every yard you would press dummy twice in place of the wall and continue on. For this to work, you must enter the dummy value of 1024 in the software you are using. You can also set the color for the dummy entries. See the plots below. Here is a wall that is 4 yards or 4 samples using the TF-900 shown in gray. You can still see the 12-foot wall in relation to the metal targets after filtering. 4
s MFD/LRL Generators HAREWARE UPDATES/CHANGES HW Update 1.b Added a polarity switch for the detector signal. Found that some detectors audio pulse had a polarity and the logger would not detect the signal. This switch is used to set the highest signal level for the logger. HW Update 1.a Added a headphone board to split the signal. Hardware updates are not covered under warranty. If you would like to have the headphone board installed in your unit contact me for details. New units will have the headphone amp built in. The price for the HP board is $50.00 installed. NOTE: By adding the headphone board 0-5 VDC cannot be used as an input signal. If you want 0-5vdc as an input to the logger contact me for modifications. HW Update 1.b A polarity switch is also installed for headphone signal. Some detectors have a dc reference to the pulsed audio. This switch corrects for the difference between detectors. Place the switch in the position to obtain the highest reading. BATTERY CHARGING The newer units have a fast rate charge circuit, which means higher current. The charger supplied is designed for the batteries used in the Arc-Geo. DO NOT USE ANOTHER CHARGER! DO NOT CHARGE OVER 24 HOURS! The batteries will get hot some and is normal. Over charging may cause battery damage. 5
