For ACTORS: There are two steps to your audition! AUDITION MATERIAL STEP 1: Singing Each actor will be asked to sing a part of a song they choose. You will first introduce yourself and let your directors know what you will be singing. Practice this with the following sentence: Hello! My name is. I am in grade, and I will be singing today. o NOTE: Your directors might also ask you to answer a question about yourself (favorite dessert, favorite food, favorite animal, etc). This helps us get to you know you a little better! For your song, pick something you really enjoy singing. (We suggest something Disney or from your favorite musical). You will sing this a cappella (meaning without a piano.) Your directors only need to hear one verse. STEP 2: Acting Please review the following lines and be prepared to perform them at auditions. You do not have to have lines memorized. Actors will be told by their directors during the audition for which character they will read. Please be prepared to read for both parts. WONKA: Charlie, do you love my factory? CHARLIE: It s the most wonderful place in the whole world! WONKA: I m pleased to hear you say that, Charlie, because from this moment on, it s yours! CHARLIE: What do you mean? WONKA: I m giving you my factory, Charlie. I need someone to take over and that someone is you! CHARLIE: You want me to run this entire factory? What about my mom and dad and Grandpa Joe and WONKA: The entire family can live here! CHARLIE: I d love to- I d positively love to!
AUDITION MATERIAL For PARENTS: How can I help my actor do his/her best at auditions? Ask your actor the follow questions: Do you understand what every word means in your song/scene? What is happening in the scene? What does Wonka want? What does Charlie want? What are the characters feeling? How do you show that emotion? When your actor prepares at home, ask yourself the following: Are their voices loud and clear? Are they showing emotion on their faces? Are they using their whole body to tell the story when singing their song? Want to feel extra prepared? Take The Art of Auditioning Workshop here at Wolf Performing Arts Center Friday, September 8 th from 4:30-6pm Register online!
