Statements Statements Mission Mission Opera Orlando's mission is to produce high-quality operatic entertainment and education to engage Central Florida audiences. Vision Opera Orlando aspires to become a standard bearer for the art of opera in the state of Florida with a national reputation for excellence. By creatively fusing various genres and mediums in our events and productions we will engender a supportive, arts-conscious community. Above all, we seek to produce entertaining and thought-provoking theatrical works of the highest artistic quality. Impact Accomplishments for 17/18 1) Opera Orlando's Opera on the Main Stage series at the Dr. Phillips Center featured a sold out run of Puccini's "La Boheme" which the Orlando Sentinel heralded as "a celebration of life" and "Opera Orlando at its best." "La Boheme" was followed by packed houses for Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors" and Rossini's "Cinderella." 2) OO successfully launched its Opera on the Town series with a Youth Company production of Krasa's Brundibar in partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Center and the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, an Orlando Fringe Festival production of Robert Patterson's "The Companion" and "Safe Word," and Mozart's "Star Trek: Abduction" presented at Plaza Live. 3) OO provided an in school program for Orange County Public Schools at four local high schools bringing an opera preview into the schools then inviting those students to an open dress rehearsal and then returning for a master class with the students. OO also provided an in school program for all Osceola County Public High Schools in partnership with Central Florida Vocal Arts centered around Zarzuela (Spanish Operetta) which culminated in a Zarzuela Highlights concert at the Osceola Performing Arts Center with professional opera singers and Osceola County High School student sharing the stage with live orchestra. 4) At the end of the 16/17 season, OO had tripled its annual budget and ended its fiscal year with a 10% surplus. As the 17/18 season concludes, OO has once again increased its annual budget this time by 30% and will once again be in the black at the end of the Fiscal Year. Goals for 18/191) Engage and expand audience with social media and marketing campaigns and added performances. 2) Maintain fiscal stability and steady growth. 3) Increase contributed income in preparation for Steinmetz Hall. Needs Opera Orlando needs to add full time staff positions including a Development Director and Marketing Director in order to prepare for moving into Steinmetz Hall which involve larger productions marketed to a broader audience. The cost per position would be roughly $60,000 - $80,000.Opera Orlando is in need of rehearsal space, shop space, and storage space especially with the advent of Steinmetz Hall which is set to open in 2020 which will be the home for Opera Orlando main stage productions. Currently, Opera Orlando rehearses at various venues throughout Orlando and stores costumes at Broadway United Methodist Church and builds and stores its set at Sunburst Shutters warehouse. To be more efficient and to save costs, Opera Orlando needs a single facility that would function as a rehearsal space, set shop, and storage space. Cost for this is hard to determine depending on the location of the building, the type of construction, and the condition of the building. Opera Orlando would best benefit from a donated piece of property and then funds to renovate and maintain the building estimated at $500,000.Also in anticipation of Steinmetz Hall, Opera Orlando needs to increase the funds raised in its annual campaign by an additional 25% which is roughly $75,000 in order to expand its productions from the smaller 300 seat venue of the Pugh Theater to larger 1500 seat Steinmetz Hall which opens in spring of 2020.Opera Orlando also needs to initiate an Opera Orlando endowment to best provide for the future of the art form and create financial stability. Opera Orlando needs a minimum of $25,000 to begin an endowment. 2

Background In January 2016, Opera Orlando was founded with the vision of becoming the standard bearer of the art form in Central Florida by producing high-quality, accessible, engaging and relevant operatic productions and education programs throughout the community. The region had been well-served for over a half of a century by the Orlando Opera and then, in 2009, by the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and the Florida Opera Theatre. It was from the latter of the three that Opera Orlando was forged. Opera Orlando is comprised of a very active 21 member board of directors, over 50 volunteers and 9 staff members. The company focuses on producing fully staged operas and concerts on a year round basis and maintains an opera youth training company for ages 8-18, an adult opera chorus of 60 voices, and a children's chorus. Its first full season was an unprecedented success with three sold out operatic productions at the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater at Dr. Phillips Center including Donizetti's "Don Pasquale," Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors," and Mozart's "Don Giovanni." Opera Orlando then expanded its programming with three additional productions in its second season presenting a total of six fully staged operas including Puccini's "La Boheme," Menotti's "Amahl and the Night Visitors," and Rossini's "Cinderella" all presented on the Pugh Theater stage at Dr. Phillips Center, Krasa's "Brundibar" presented in partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Center and the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra at the Rosen Jewish Community Center, a double bill of Robert Patterson's "The Companion" and "Safe Word" presented as part of the Orlando Fringe Festival, and Mozart's "Abduction from the Seraglio" presented at Plaza Live. CEO/Executive Director Statement Statement from Gabriel Preisser, Executive & Artistic Director I am proud to lead Opera Orlando as we head into our third full season and continue the 400 year legacy of the operatic art form. I am consistently inspired by the passionate commitment of our performers, designers, and production team members both locally and nationally. I am ever grateful for the dedication of our board of directors, the committed work of our staff and volunteers, and the unwavering support of our community manifest by our growing patron and donor base. During the 17/18 Season, Opera Orlando reached a total audience of more than 10,000 people through our productions, education programs, and ancillary events. Opera Orlando was able to reach new audiences in 17/18 with the following additions to our initially programmed productions: a Youth Company Production of "Brundibar" in partnership with the Holocaust Memorial Center and the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, a Zarzuela highlights concert in Osceola County in partnership with Osceola County Schools and Central Florida Vocal Arts, an Orlando Fringe Festival production of "The Companion" and "Safe Word," and a Star Trek adaptation of Mozart's "The Abduction from the Seraglio" for which Opera Orlando partnered with several cosplay and comic book groups around central Florida and promoted the show at the Orlando MegaCon convention with over 100,000 attendees. Opera Orlando's spirit of collaboration, innovation, and community are truly what set us apart. We seek to continue to collaborate dynamically throughout the region with other arts groups, performers, artists, and musicians. In addition we seek to maintain and enhance our ongoing artistic partnerships with the Orlando Philharmonic and the Orlando Ballet as we all prepare for the advent of Steinmetz Hall in the spring of 2020. To help prepare us for the future, Opera Orlando prepared a five-year strategic plan at the end of the 16/17 season with the assistance of Michael Kaiser. As the 17/18 season is coming to close Opera Orlando has already surpassed the financial projections of its strategic plan by 30% and is poised to maintain its enhanced programming and company growth in the upcoming 18/19 season. I sincerely thank the Central Florida community for its support of Opera Orlando enabling us to bring world class talent to Orlando while also showcasing and developing local talent and allowing us to enrich our community with the culture, beauty, and inspiration of the culmination of all art forms. See you at the opera! 3

Board Chair Statement Statement from John T. Wettach Jr, President of the Board of the Directors Coming off of an artistically and financially successful inaugural season in 2016-17, Opera Orlando was able to invest in itself by adding more staff and more programming in 2017-18. The company expanded from three productions to six productions while also presenting its annual "Opera on Park" summer concert series, touring "Amahl and the Night Visitors" to Gaylord Palms resort, Winter Garden Roper Ballroom, and the Winter Park Woman's Club, a Zarzuela highlights concert in Osceola County, a masterclass series and concert in conjunction with Valencia college, its annual Summer Opera Institute with University of Central Florida, its third annual Gala at Alfond Inn, One Voice Orlando benefit concert in partnership with the Global Peace Film Festival and Proyecto Somos Orlando, in school programs for Orange and Osceola Counties, and various other lead up events and smaller events throughout Central Florida. All of these programs which are geared towards accessibility, community outreach, and cultivating a new energy to inspire audiences serve to fulfill Opera Orlando's mission to make opera a focal point in our community while also building an audience for Steinmetz Hall, the future home for Opera Orlando's main stage series at Dr. Phillips Center in the heart of downtown Orlando. Opera Orlando has established itself as a recognized and significant operatic company both locally and on a national scale. CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments Opera Orlando, as a rapidly growing premier operatic performing arts organization, has unique and welcome challenges. Along with our many success and opportunities comes the challenges of ongoing operations, securing appropriate environments for administrative, storage, rehearsal, and performance space, planning and identifying talented staff with availability and dynamic skill for meeting the organizational requirements of high velocity growth, producing world class, cutting edge, innovative production that will continue to attract and captivate diverse audiences within the community and from around the world. Opera Orlando aspires to continue its legacy as a notable operatic company within its field, attracting performers and production talent with its own highly identifiable brand of unique, contemporary, and socially meaningful work. Opera Orlando (formerly Florida Opera Theatre) has a proven track record of being a conscientious steward of financial support (earned and donated) and is continually in the black financially. Opera Orlando is prepared to strategically invest in accordance to the interests of our stakeholders and under the guidance of its board of directors. We are excited about the future and while we still have much to do, we plan to accomplish our goals through strong community, corporate, and individual support. Our ongoing commitment to those who provide support is to responsibly steward all financial support, value and appreciate our mission, adhere to our values, and continue to enthusiastically honor our community's unique spirit of cultural integrity. Impact Goals The magic of opera has touched audiences for centuries with its perfect blend of music, voices, costumes, and sets. It brings to life the concept of storytelling in a way that touches the soul. Opera Orlando's goal is to keep the art form of opera alive and relevant in Central Florida by providing a mix of education and performance through a balance of new and traditional works. Opera Orlando specifically partners and serves other arts groups such as the Orlando Philharmonic, the Orlando Ballet, Rollins College, Valencia College, University of Central Florida, Central Florida Community Arts among others. Opera Orlando also has developed a Studio Artist program that performs in schools, retirement centers, and other community venues. The organization conducts programming year-round that includes its Opera on the Main Stage series at Dr. Phillips Center, Opera on the Town series at multiple venues, Opera on Park summer concert series, Summer Opera Institute in partnership with UCF, Youth Company program, Studio Artist program, in school programs, and several other special events and lead up events. Opera Orlando is lead by a diverse and dedicated Board of Directors that includes members of the art, business, and educational communities. Opera Orlando's staff is now based in offices located downtown in proximity to Dr. Phillips Center where Opera Orlando looks forward to performing in the 1500 seat opera house Steinmetz Hall starting in 2020. Opera Orlando annually operates with a balanced budget. Opera Orlando will begin development initiatives to increase fundraising required for innovative, ground breaking and leading edge performance goals that includes accelerating contributions from grants, major gifts, individual giving and endowment funding in preparation for Steinmetz Hall. Strategies The Board of Directors and Opera Orlando staff developed a five year strategic at the end of the 16/17 season with the help of Michael Kaiser. Specific areas were targeted with an implementation plan put in place delegating these targeted areas. Steps are now being taken to address these areas with progress reports provided on a quarterly basis. Market research surveys and annual key stakeholder data are part of our near future planning. Using new qualitative post production surveys from the 2017/18 season, Opera Orlando will annually identify and review qualitative data collected, compare this with strategic plans and provide advisory committees with outreach and targeted goals associated with fulfillment in accordance with demand. Capabilities Opera Orlando has identified a strong fan base and produced consistently sold out programs. There is a dedicated audience looking for cosmopolitan endeavors to enhance their quality of life in Central Florida. The availability of young talent and the existence of strong music programs are sources of artists, audiences, and funding. The dedicated staff and active board of directors are solidly committed to continuing to growing the organization and working to accomplish strategic goals. There is also a commitment from a variety of community leaders to ensure that the Arts, and specifically Opera, are a viable and vibrant component of Central Florida. Opera Orlando's Board of Directors has the following standing committees which meet on a regular basis and evaluate company initiatives and strategies. Those committees include: education, development, marketing, artistic advisory, finance, production, and ambassadors. Opera Orlando also has a dedicated group of over 140 opera ambassadors who both volunteer and contribute financially to the organization. Opera Orlando has been fortunate to have a number of in-kind services donated in the areas of marketing, printing, rental, shop space, and graphic design. OO also looks to other organizations within the community, such as local foundations and other arts institutions, who assist with special projects and provide outside expertise as needed. Opera Orlando is also a member of Opera America which is a resource for information, innovation, and support from national foundations and/or institutions. Opera Orlando has always been an excellent and conscientious steward of financial support (earned and donated) continually in the black financially and prepared to strategically invest in accordance to the interests of our stakeholders and under the guidance of board of directors. Indicators 6

Quantitative indicators are determined by attendance data, media reach, and programmatic interest. Growth in audience size at both our concerts and operas, increase in numbers of children and youth served, and continued growth in monetary and volunteer support from the community are all indicators we look at to determine if we are making progress. Qualitatively Opera Orlando is conducting market survey and research to ensure communication is received that provides ranking and creative feedback from peers, community members, and stakeholders. Progress Opera Orlando has collected surveys throughout the 17/18 season to provide quantitative indicators for future season planning. Opera Orlando has also added more part time staff to assist with marketing and production elements within the company. Opera Orlando is still looking to hire a full time Development Director. 7

Combining and serving both of these subsets will lead to an engaged and broadened audience prepared for Steinmetz Hall in the 2020/21 season. Furthermore, Opera Orlando's more intimate venues currently allow the audience members to feel as if they are a part of the performance and experiencing world class talent up close and personal leading them to invest more in the future of the art form. Parameters for short term success include audience growth, donor base expansion, and the level of talent of the performers, designers, and production team. Program success is monitored by ticket sales, reviews, and audience survey responses. Matt Palm of the Orlando Sentinel called "La Boheme" "a celebration of life" and "Opera Orlando at its best." Matt Palm also praised Opera Orlando for its "giddily entertaining" and "excellently cast" "Star Trek: Abduction." Opera Orlando's email list has increased from 2,600 subscribers to over 4,000 during the 17/18 season. As the children continue within the program, the list of their participation in various acting and performance opportunities both within our program and other venues will grow. 80% of those graduating out of our program go on to study vocal performance at well respected colleges, universities or conservatories. Our short-term goals include providing the students several performance opportunities during the year to showcase their new skills and honed talents. We also provide partial scholarships to deserving students, allowing them to learn and experience an art form they might never otherwise know. The success for the Youth Opera Program can be seen by the number of children returning to participate from year to year. The response has been very positive and all three groups are well attended. Opera Orlando also monitors attendance as well as individual success using surveys, polling the students as to their strengths and weaknesses at the beginning of the term and comparing them to the answers at the end of the term. The Youth Company's success can be seen in that the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra has booked the children's chorus again for their annual Home for the Holidays Concert. Also, four of the Youth Company's recent graduates are currently attending well known universities and pursuing studies in vocal performance. 9

Opera Concert Description Class Code Class Sub Code Population Served Our Opera Concert Program showcases performances both by individuals and groups. Opera on Park is a three-concert summer series featuring young professional talent and national talent at the Winter Park University Club in July and August, 2019. They also allow for opera to be experienced in an intimate way with world class talent up close and personal. The ablity to attract sponsors and hosts for Opera on Park, its annual Gala, Opera Salons and Opera Cabarets a is one indicator that Opera Orlando's concert series is a success as well as ticket sales and audience surveys. Examples of success include attracting world renowned artists such as Metropolitan Soprano Wendy Bryn Harmer and Grammy Award winner Daniel Belcher for Opera on Park in 2017 and raising over $80,000 at Opera Orlando's third annual gala at The Alfond Inn in April of 2018. 10

Arts, Culture & Humanities, General/Other Opera Adolescents Only (13-19 years) Budget $8,500.00 Long Term Success Short Term Success Program Success Monitored By Examples of Program Success Long term goals include expanding the in school program to all Orange County High Schools and Seminole and Osceola county schools allowing Opera Orlando to fill Steinmetz Hall (to be completed in 2020) with 1500 students for open dress rehearsals in future seasons. It is our goal to help teachers secure grant monies through OCPS which will pay for bussing students to and from the performance venue for free. This way, many more students will have the opportunity to experience opera in a theatre with orchestra, sets, and costumes which can be such an impactful experience. Program success is monitored by surveys from students and teachers and student attendance at open dress rehearsal. This was incredibly valuable for my students! It introduced them to a vocal style they aren't very familiar with and gave them a chance to work individually with a professional. This was incredible! Please keep offering this opportunity to schools! It truly is invaluable and the students haven't stopped talking about it. Sandra Schafer, Apopka High School This program was incredibly valuable for all of our students. It was a multifaceted performance in which our guest performer, Craig Irvin, sang opera arias and musical theatre solos, gave professional performing advice, answered student questions, and did a vocal workshop with two of our students performing in our school musical. Students learned valuable performance skills as well as life lessons applicable to performance and perseverance. They were exposed to opera in a relatable, fun setting and format. Thank you so much for funding this wonderful program! Please continue to support activities like this as long as funding is available!! Evan Powers, Avalon Middle School 11

Opera Orlando hopes to expand the program to a two week program to help accommodate this element. Program success is monitored by enrollment and student feedback via surveys. Enrollment has constantly been at maximum capacity with consistently strong reviews from students. CEO Comments Opera Orlando, as a rapidly growing premier operatic performing arts organization in central Florida has unique and welcome challenges. Along with our many success and opportunities comes the challenges of ongoing operations; securing appropriate environments for administrative, storage, rehearsal, and performance space. Planning and identifying talented staff with just in time availability and dynamic skill for meeting the organizational requirements of high velocity growth. Producing world class, cutting edge, innovative materials that will continue to attract and captivate diverse audiences within the community, and from around the world. Opera Orlando aspires to continue its legacy as a notable operatic company within its field, attracting performers and production talent with its own highly identifiable brand of unique, contemporary, and socially meaningful work. In Opera Orlando's future plans we seek to take calculated risks that lead to our ultimate success; Orlando will be recognized for our operatic achievements globally. It is imperative that Opera Orlando continue to survey and hear from the community, seek, and gain support for our exciting collective future. Opera Orlando is investing in development and fundraising initiatives with qualified and studied input from market research, leaders within the community and performing arts field, stake holders, collaborators and partners. We are excited about the future and while we still have much to do, we hope to accomplish our goals through strong community, corporate, and individual support. Our ongoing commitment to those who provide support is to responsibly steward all financial support, value and appreciate our mission, adhere to our values, and continue to enthusiastically honor our community's unique spirit of cultural integrity. 12
