The following topics are discussed: Safety Precautions Unpacking and Inspection Site Preparation Adapter Information Installation and Setup Alignment and Leveling Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Installation Guide 15

3. Installation Safety Precautions p~ñéíó=mêéå~ìíáçåë= For all Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal installation procedures, observe the following important safety and handling rule to avoid damage to yourself and the equipment: Important A dedicated ground stud is provided at the center of the unit, in the bottom. To ensure safety to installation and operations personnel, connect a ground wire from this stud to earth ground, using a wire 14AWG or larger in size. råé~åâáåö=~åç=fåëééåíáçå= To unpack and inspect the Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal: 1. Inspect the shipping box for damage. If you find any damage, notify the shipping carrier immediately for all claims adjustments. 2. As you open the box, compare its contents against the packing slip. If you find any shortages, contact your Barco sales representative. 3. Remove and discard any straps, cardboard cover, and the carton from the pedestal. If the shipment includes the optional large projector platform and kit, also unpack those items. 4. Once you have removed all the components from their packaging and checked that all the listed components are present, visually inspect the unit itself to ensure there was no damage during shipping. If there is damage, notify the shipping carrier immediately for all claims adjustments. Important Leave the pedestal on its pallet/skid, and leave the leveling feet fully retracted until the pedestal is placed near its final installation point. Do not extend the leveling feet until the unit is in place, including being lifted onto a platform, stand, or plinth, if applicable. páíé=mêéé~ê~íáçå= The environment in which you install your Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal should be clean, properly lit, free from static, and have adequate power, ventilation, and space for all components. 16 Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Installation Guide

3. Installation Adapter Information ^Ç~éíÉê=fåÑçêã~íáçå The table below provides information regarding supplied or optional adapters: Table 3-1. Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Adapters Adapter Description Quantity Adapter Plate Kit (US) PN R858605, Optional Adapter Plate Kit for DP-3000 projectors Option Adapter Plate Kit (EU) PN R9856060, Optional Adapter Plate Kit for DP-3000 projectors Option The figure below illustrates the optional Adapter Plate Kit, as installed on the pedestal. Figure 3-1. Optional Adapter Plate Kit Installed Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Installation Guide 17

3. Installation Installation and Setup fåëí~ää~íáçå=~åç=péíìé Use the following steps to install the Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal: Caution Do not attempt to install a projector on top of a pedestal which has sustained structural damage, as the pedestal may be unstable or unsafe. If this condition occurs, please contact Barco for assistance. 1. Move the pedestal to its final location. Please note: ~ Get the pedestal as close to the final location as possible, before taking it off the pallet. ~ Prior to placing the Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal in its final location, do not install any equipment in the pedestal s rack area, and do not install a projector on top of the pedestal. The pedestal is not intended to be moved after equipment has been installed into or onto it. 2. When placing the pedestal in position, keep in mind the relative locations of the nearby equipment racks or other system components that will be installed. Please note: ~ To allow for the overhang of the projector lens, always allow sufficient room between the front of the pedestal and any walls or projection ports. This will usually be a minimum of 12 inches (30 cm). ~ Allow additional space if 3D attachments or a large model projector is to be used (e.g., DP90, DP3000). 3. Prior to mounting a projector on the pedestal or loading any equipment into its rack area, extend the leveling feet far enough so that they can easily be adjusted with a wrench later. It is recommended that you extend the feet approximately 1 inch or 25mm, as shown below. Figure 3-2. Leveling feet 4. At the time of shipment, a locknut is located on each foot, on the inside of the base. Remove the four side covers to access the locknuts. Please note: ~ If the leveling feet are to be extended substantially, the locknut may be relocated to the bottom, below the base. This will require removing and reinstalling each foot. 18 Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Installation Guide

3. Installation Installation and Setup ~ Extending the feet may require tipping the unit up on one side (which is why this step should be done before adding equipment to the pedestal). Important Do not attempt the final leveling of the pedestal at this time, as that procedure will be done once a projector is installed. 5. If a smaller model projector is used, skip this step. If a large projector is used (e.g., DP-90 or DP-3000), perform the following steps to install the Adapter Kit: a. Install the adapter plate on top of the pedestal with the supplied hardware. b. Remove the backing from the four rubber pads provided with the pedestal, and attach them in the four corners of the adapter plate. c. If you want to install the DP-3000 s lamp power supply (LPS) inside the pedestal, perform the following steps. Use the figure below for reference: 1 3 2 Figure 3-3. Inside view of Pedestal, showing panel installation locations Remove the side panels from the pedestal. Install the supplied 9RU Blank Panel on the inside of the pedestal at location (1). Install the supplied 2.2RU Blank Panel on the inside of the pedestal at location (2). Install the supplied top cover on the inside of the pedestal at location (3). Before installing the LPS, remove the top carrying handles from the LPS chassis. Note that you may need to relocate the AC power cable through the alternate side knockout on the LPS. Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Installation Guide 19

3. Installation Installation and Setup 6. Four rubber pads ship with each pedestal. Three of the pads are used with smaller projectors (i.e. DP-1500 or DP-2000). Remove the backing from each pad and install as shown below, arrows 'A'. Figure 3-4. Pedestal top view Please note: ~ Ensure that the top surface is clean and dry prior to attaching the pads. ~ Cleaning the surface with Isopropyl alcohol prior to attaching the pads will promote adhesion. 7. For smaller projector models, a knockout is provided to allow passage of the power cord at the rear corner of the pedestal. Remove the knockout at this time, if applicable. (See Figure 3-3, 'B' arrow). 8. If you wish to install rack equipment that is extra deep, four adjustable brackets are provided. On the inside rack rails, install these brackets as desired using the supplied mounting hardware. Figure 3-5. Adjustable rear support brackets, sample locations 20 Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Installation Guide

3. Installation Alignment and Leveling 9. Ensure that the pedestal is located where it will remain prior to loading any equipment, including being placed on top of any platform, blocks, stand, plinth, etc. At this point, you may load equipment into the rack area and install the projector on top of the pedestal. ^äáöåãéåí=~åç=iéîéäáåö Side-to-side leveling is accomplished by adjusting the leveling feet. There are two ways to adjust the front-to-rear tilt angle: Coarse adjustment is performed adjusting the Tilting Platform downward from zero to 6 degrees, in 1-degree increments. Fine tilt adjustment is performed with the leveling feet. Note The vertical lens shift capability on the projector may be used for fine tilt adjustments. Five degrees of tilting capability is provided by the leveling feet, which when combined with the six degrees available by adjusting the Tilting Platform, provides more than 10 degrees of total downward tilt capability. Note Upward tilt capability is limited to the 5 degrees provided by the feet To level the projector: 1. Turn on the projector. 2. Select a test pattern that includes marks for the full extent of the image to be used. 3. Adjust the zoom setting on the lens to a setting that approximately fills the screen. 4. Ensure that the pedestal and projector are stable, e.g., all four feet are in contact with the floor, so that the system doesn't wobble from side-to-side. 5. Adjust one or two of the feet until the unit is stable and the image is approximately level from side-to-side that is, the left and right lower corners of the image are equidistant from the floor, and the left and right upper corners are equidistant from the ceiling. 6. Check if the left side of the image is a different overall height than the right side of the image (as measured from the top to the bottom of the image). If so, you must reposition the pedestal and adjust the horizontal offset of the lens to correct for keystone (see the projector manual for adjusting lens offset). 7. Once all four corners of the image are equidistant at the top and bottom, adjust the tilt angle of the pedestal to correspond to the angle required. Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Installation Guide 21

3. Installation Alignment and Leveling a. Ensure that bolts 'C' and 'D' are loosened on both sides of the pedestal as shown below. Figure 3-6. Bolt locations b. From the rear of the pedestal, lift the Tilting Platform until the latches on both sides engage in the desired position. To make it easy to set both sides the same, the latches are marked with numbers representing the desired angle. c. Once the desired angle is reached, tighten the 'C' and 'D' bolts for maximum stability and safety. Caution When lifting and tilting the platform, keep your hands near the center of the lifting flange. This flat flange is provided for ease and comfort in lifting. Keep your hands and fingers away from the extreme right and left sides, as a potential pinch hazard may exist. 22 Universal Digital Cinema Pedestal Installation Guide
