T he projection wall system has wide audience appeal because of the tremendous impact of large screen displays. Sony RVP-511 and RVP-411* Projection Wall Units have been designed specifically for projection wall applications, and incorporate reliable optical and circuitry technology such as the optical coupling CRT and field doubling circuitry to realise superb picture quality. Sony provides a choice of two screen sizes and two types of screen surround to broad the possibilities of projection wall application. The RVP-511 has a 50-inch screen and the RVP-411 has a 41-inch screen. Both support the astonishing 0.2 mm ultra-thin screen surround and 1.7 mm screen surround as an option. These minimise the disturbance of the screen surround when reproducing images on a projection wall.
T he innovative two-part construction of the RVP-511 and RVP-411 allows the CRT assembly, together with the electronic chassis, to be separated from the cabinet in a matter of seconds. With reduced cabinet depth and light weight, this unique split design means that the RVP-511 and RVP-411 can be moved and installed in two, easy-to-handle sections - a feature that makes both installation and maintenance access easier. The RVP-511 and RVP-411 are ideal display units for a wide range of applications including use in exhibitions, shopping centres and concert venues. Features Excellent Picture Performance High Contrast Image with Optical Coupling CRT For high efficiency light output, the RVP-511/411 uses an optical coupling CRT. In this system, the CRT and the first element of the lens are coupled by liquid to minimise refraction of light. As a result, sharp and clear picture projection is achieved. Furthermore, improvements in the green phosphor and colour filters mean that there is an exceptionally high level of colour purity. High Brightness The combination of the CRTs and lenses used in the RVP-511/411 ensures bright image display, maximising the light output of the projector. For example, the RVP-411 with the optional Sony VPS-411RF Screen achieves 2056 cd/m 2 (peak white), 280 cd/m 2 (ANSI nit). This means that images are effectively displayed even in brightly lit environments. High Resolution Innovative optical and circuit technologies with a 30 MHz-wide RGB bandwidth enable images to be reproduced with a high resolution. Input Capability The RVP-511/411 accepts 31 khz input signals and can therefore reproduce images from computer signals which conform to the VGA Mode 3 (31.469 khz/59.94 Hz) standard, as well as double scan video signals. Using the optional Sony PWB-411D Video Input Board, the RVP- 511/411 can also display images from video signals. Flicker-free Signal Reproduction With the optional PWB-411D Video Input Board, the RVP-511/411 reproduces superb video images thanks to field doubling circuitry which allows each video field to be scanned twice by the CRT. This 100/120 Hz field rate significantly reduces field-flicker phenomena, assuring superb picture quality. Uniformity Thanks to newly developed built-in digital uniformity enhancer circuits, shading and hot spot phenomena are greatly improved. Thus, uniform chrominance and luminance reproduction can be attained from corner to corner of a large screen. This is especially evident when the RVP-511/411 is used in a projection wall. Furthermore, uniform brightness is achieved in multiscan applications with the Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL) link function. Wide Viewing Angle With the combination of Lenticular and Fresnel lens, bright images with excellent colour reproduction are displayed on the entire screen and can be seen from a wide angle. The black stripes coated on the screen surface contribute to reproduction of a sharp image by absorbing ambient light. Series Line-up Two Screen Sizes For different application needs, RVP-511 has a 50-inch screen and RVP-411 has a 41-inch screen. This enables the exact screen size to be built according to each particular application, with an excellent price/performance ratio. Optional Screens The RVP-511/411 can be used with optional screen. Easy Adjustment and Operation Remote Control Capability An optional wireless/wired control unit, the Sony RM-PJ1292*, controls all adjustments and operation of the RVP-511/411. Adjustment status and information on the input signals are displayed on-screen. The menu can be selected in one of five languages: English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. To extend the remote control range of the RM-PJ1292, an optional infrared remote control receiver, the Sony RM-PJ10, is also available. The projector also has control terminals including a loop-through RS-422 serial communication port. Full RS-422 control, such as user control and a self-diagnosis function, can be performed via this RS-422 port. *The RM-PJ1292 is included in the Sony PWK-411D System Control Kit. Easy Installation and Maintenance Compact and Unique Two-part Design The RVP-511/411 has a unique two-part construction. The unit can be separated into two parts: the projection chassis and the cabinet. Moreover, the RVP-511/411 is light in weight and has a small depth measurement. This compact and unique design enables it to be moved and installed in two, easy-to-handle sections. This design also simplifies maintenance access. Index Function To control individual projectors in a wall application, each projector can be assigned with an index number from 0 to 999 using switchers on the rear panel. These numbers are then used as index numbers during operation. By selecting an index number via the RM-PJ1292, individual projectors can be remotely controlled even through several projectors are connected in a system. If desired, for convenient projector operations, each index number can be displayed on the corresponding screen. Colour Temperature Selection Colour temperature is selectable between 9300K, 6500K and 3200K depending on the display environment. A user memory is also provided to store the desired colour temperature. Self-diagnosis Function The self-diagnosis function detects projector malfunctions. The LED indicator on the rear panel shows a number corresponding to the cause of a malfunction. The problem can also be diagnosed via the RS-422 port. System Configurations Example of 2x2 System CRV Disc/ Laser Disc VGA Processor RVP-511/411 x 4 Remarks Number and variety of input sources depends on input specification of processor. Output signals of a processor have to be either 31 khz RGB signals or 15 khz video signals both of which can be accepted by RVP- 511/411. 15 khz video signals include four standard composite, Y/C, component and RGB video signals. In case of 15 khz video signals, PWB-411D, optional video input board, is required in each RVP-511/411 and automatically field-doubles inputted video signals to 31 khz scan rate.
