Service assistance provides solutions for the technician servicing the product in the home. Also included are applicable primary and secondary parts recommendations. The primary part listed is expected to be the solution in 80% of the repairs with that symptom. The idea of the document is to provide the technicians with repair advice that can be used to improve the first time fix ratio as well as reduce shotgun troubleshooting. No remote control activity Pressing the remote control toward the TV should cause an LED or Light on the TV front panel to flash. This indicates a code was transmitted. Verify the remote control is in TV Mode by pressing the TV button on the top portion of the remote. If the front panel lamp or LED not flash verify the batteries are installed properly and in good condition. Battery corrosion can cause the remote control to not function. The remote control range is 30 feet or less. A bright light behind the remote control can affect the performance of the remote control. An IR remote control can be tested by pointing it a digital camera or camera phone; the transmitter will show white on the camera screen if it is transmitting. 1. Incorrect Picture Shape or Size If the problem only occurs on one source, the problem is probably related to that Cable boxes, satellite boxes and DVD players often include settings that will change the picture size.
