Recording a new message 1) Press Display button until either the elapsed time or the time remaining display is showing and the Play LED is illuminated. NOTE: In Interrupt Mode, either the Play or Auxiliary LED may be illuminated, while the other LED blinks. It does not matter which LED is lit, since a new message may be recorded at any point in the interrupt cycle. 2) Plug the line-level audio source into the Audio In connector on the front panel. Plug headphones or amplified speakers into the Audio Monitor connector on the front panel. 3) Briefly press and release the change button. The Play LED will go out, the Record LED will start to flash and the display will show 0:00. If the display shows all dashes, then this feature is locked and an authorized key must be inserted to enable recording a new message. 4) Press Up/Start to start recording. The display will show the elapsed recording time. When less then 10 seconds of record time is remaining, the display will begin to flash. The recording will automatically stop when the time limit is reached. 5) Press Down/Stop to stop the recording. The recorded message will automatically be played back once for verification and the unit will return to Ready to Record mode. (Step 3) 6) If the recording is satisfactory, then briefly press Change to return to normal operation. For Repeating Message mode, the Play LED will blink, for External mode the Auxiliary LED will blink and for Interrupt mode, both LED s will blink. 4) When the desired playback mode is selected, briefly press Change to exit mode selection.

Change Interrupt Mode timing In interrupt mode, the unit transmits the audio from the Line-in connector for a specified amount of time. The unit will then play a single recorded message before returning to the external audio source. This can be used to provide background music, with periodic interruptions for a pre-recorded message. In order to change the Interrupt Mode timing, the unit must first be operating in interrupt mode. However, the timing can be adjusted at any point in the cycle. 1) Press Display button until either the elapsed time or the time remaining display is showing and the Play or Auxiliary LED is illuminated. 2) Press and hold the change button until L2 is shown, then release the button. The display will flash while showing the current interrupt mode timing. If the display shows all dashes, then this feature is locked and an authorized key must be inserted to permit changing interrupt time. 3) Press Up or Down to set the desired interrupt time, to a maximum of 99 minutes, 59 seconds. The longer the button is held, the faster the values change. 4) Once the interrupt time has been set, briefly press Change to return to normal operation.
