Of Mice and Men Obituary & Eulogy

Transcription:

Part A Beethoven s father was the one who first taught him how to play the violin and piano. He pushed Beethoven to practice every day, which definitely helped Beethoven become one of the best composers and musicians of all time. Part B If Beethoven had refused to follow his father s wishes, he may never have gotten to meet Mozart because the only thing that allowed him to meet Mozart was his ability to play an instrument. Also, Beethoven may not have been able to earn a living by composing music if he had refused to practice nearly every day like his father wanted. This was especially true once Beethoven went deaf. Who could compose music that good without being able to hear it? Only a person who had practiced and practiced and practiced could have. Score 4

Part A: Beethoven's father affected his life by making him practice nearly everyday, so he would be as good as Mozart. Part B: Beethoven's adult life would have been different if he ignored his father's wishes, because he wouldn't know how to still compose music while he was deaf. Beethoven also would have not been a recognized composer after his death if his father didn't teach him music. The student demonstrates a thorough understanding of the article by explaining in Part A that Beethoven s father pushed him to practice every day, which made him become a great musician (Beethoven's father affected his life by making him practice nearly everyday, so he would be as good as Mozart). In Part B, the student discusses two ways in which Beethoven s life could have been different without the influences of his father (... he wouldn't know how to still compose music while he was deaf. Beethoven also would have not been a recognized composer after his death). This response demonstrates a through command of the conventions of standard English. Score 4

Part A: Without his father he wouldn't be a great musician and know how to play the piano and violin. Part B: He would not be a famous composer and know how to write music. Since Beethoven did listen to his dad he knew how to write music even when he was deaf. The student demonstrates a thorough understanding of the article by explaining in Part A how Beethoven s father affected his life (Without his father he wouldn't be a great musician and know how to play the piano and violin). In Part B, the student discusses two ways in which Beethoven s life could have been different without the influences of his father (He would not be a famous composer and know how to write music.... he knew how to write music even when he was deaf). This response demonstrates a thorough command of the conventions of standard English. Score 4

Part A: Beethoven's father had him practicing almost every day which made him a better player. This affected Bethoven's playing greatly. Part B:Beethoven would not have been so great if he had not chosen to follow his father's wishes and probably because he felt his father had faith in him. The student demonstrates a clear understanding of the article by explaining in Part A that Beethoven s father pushing him to practice made Beethoven a stellar musician (Beethoven's father had him practicing almost every day which made him a better player. This affected Bethoven's playing greatly). In Part B, the student discusses one possible way Beethoven s life may have been different (Beethoven would not have been so great), but the other idea for Part B is missing. This response demonstrates a command of the conventions of standard English. Score 3

Part A Because his father said that he decided to teach him how to play the violin and piano. His father made him one of the best violin and piano player in history. His dad got him in the most famous stages so that got him wealthy. His dad noticed that he was a great musician. Part B He would not be as big in history then he is in now. He wouldn't get to do what he all ways wanted. He probably wouldn't even get famous for music. His dad wouldn't help him with the piano or violin The student demonstrates a clear understanding of the article by explaining in Part A how Beethoven s father affected his life (Because his father said that he decided to teach him how to play the violin and piano). In Part B, the student discusses one possible way Beethoven s life may have been different (He would not be as big in history then he is in now), but the other ideas for Part B are unsupported. This response demonstrates a command of the conventions of standard English. Score 3

part a:his father made him practice which made him the a musical geneus he turned into. part b: One thing that would have been different is he wouldnt be famous.the next thing that would have been different is that he wouldnt know how to play the violin or piano. The student demonstrates a clear understanding of the article by explaining in Part A that Beethoven s father pushing him to practice made Beethoven a stellar musician (His father made him practice which made him the a musical geneus he turned into). In Part B, the student discusses one possible way Beethoven s life may have been different (... he wouldnt be famous), but the other idea for Part B is incorrect. This response demonstrates a command of the conventions of standard English. Score 3

part A His father helped him by teaching him how to play the violin and the piano. It helped him get better experence in how to play music.part B he did the right thing by leting his father help him becaus if he would'nt have let his father help him he probly woulde'nt know how to play music or he would be stage frite. The student demonstrates a basic understanding of the article by answering Part A correctly with textual references (His father helped him by teaching him how to play the violin and the piano), but Part B is incorrect. This response demonstrates an inconsistent command of the conventions of standard English. There are a few patterns of errors in grammar and usage that occasionally impede understanding. Score 2

part A:He did because he made Beethoven play every day. part B:He may have never played well and could have not played. The student demonstrates a basic understanding of the article by answering Part A correctly with textual references (... because he made Beethoven play every day), but Part B is incorrect. The response demonstrates an inconsistent command of the conventions of standard English. There are a few patterns of errors in grammar and usage that occasionally impede understanding. Score 2

Part A He teached him how to play the violin and piano. Part B If he had he would have been poor, and he would not be famous. The student demonstrates a basic understanding of the article by answering Part A correctly with textual references (He teached him how to play the violin and piano), but Part B is incorrect. The response demonstrates an inconsistent command of the conventions of Standard English. There are a few patterns of errors in grammar and usage that occasionally impede understanding. Score 2

Part A: beethovens father affected his life by helping him with his music part B: If beethoven ignored is father beethoven would not know much about music. The student demonstrates a minimal understanding of the article by expressing the influence of Beethoven s father in general terms (... by helping him with his music), but textual support is missing. The student s reply to one possible way Beethoven s life would have been different is incorrect. The response demonstrates a command of the conventions of standard English. There are a few distracting errors in grammar and usage, but meaning is clear. Score 1

A.Beethoven's father affected his life because he wanted beethoven to learn music.b.beethoven's life would have been different if he hadn't choose his father because music is a good thing for him if beethoven would not have done music what will he be doing. The student demonstrates a minimal understanding of the article by expressing the influence of Beethoven s father in general terms (... because he wanted beethoven to learn music), but textual support is missing. The student s reply to one possible way Beethoven s life would have been different is incorrect. The response demonstrates an inconsistent command of the conventions of standard English. There are a few patterns of errors in grammar and usage that occasionally impede understanding. Score 1

parta To teach beethoven how to play a instruments. partb people will hate him and they will not talk to him. The student demonstrates a minimal understanding of the article by expressing the influence of Beethoven s father in general terms (To teach beethoven how to play a instruments), but textual support is undeveloped. The student s reply to one possible way Beethoven s life would have been different is incorrect. The lack of support prevents it from receiving a higher score. The response demonstrates a command of the conventions of standard English. There are a few distracting errors in grammar and usage, but meaning is clear. Score 1

part A ;He couldnt hear anything that people would say to him so he should of did something else instead of playing musice sinnce he lost his hearing. part B;If he had chosen to ignore his fathers wishes then he would suffer the conseqenses and have bad dreams everyday for the rest of his life. The student s response is incorrect. Score 0

part A Beethoven's father affected his life by telling him that he will never be a famous music player. part B beethoven's life will have been full of joy if he had chose to ignore his father, but he listen. One of the things his father said about him was that his father didn't believe that he can become a famous music player. The student s response is incorrect. Score 0
