They are one of eight choirs asked to perform out of 33 submitting audition materials from the chorus performances of the last three years. The last time a Decatur High Chorus performed at this conference was 2002. The performance will be on January 20, 2011 in Montgomery, AL. Attention Seniors: DHS Choral Scholarships Award: Three scholarships (one $1,000, one $850, and one $750.00) are awarded to graduating seniors who have been involved in the chorus at DHS. Criteria: Candidates for these scholarships provide information regarding scholastic achievements, extracurricular participation and college plans. This information will all be considered as well as input from the choral director regarding participation and dedication to the choral program. Process: This application is made available to all students via the chorus website. Students complete and return all information requested to Leigh Ann Raby. The counselor will collect completed forms and mail to an independent judge to select the winners. Judges will send names of winners to the counselor for announcement at the spring concert. Required Items Completed application form Four (4) narrative paragraphs Two (2) letters of recommendation (teachers, community, or church leaders) in a sealed envelope. Itinerary : Day 1 Fly overnight to Italy Day 2 Arrive in Rome ITALY SPRING TRIP The last day to sign up is Dec. 18 IT IS NOT TOO LATE!!! Participants need to get passports now! Do not wait any longer! Final payment is due 110 days prior to departure, unless you are on the payment plan! Confirm that your passport name matches exactly with your EF registration. You cannot travel unless it does. Non-US citizens must verify your travel documentation for each country you will visit or pass through while on tour. Rooming lists completed in January Flights confirmed six weeks before departure. Adult chaperones 2 per every adult room. Fundraising Facts All fundraising money is due!! Outstanding balances will negatively impact your grade in chorus. CONCERT ATTIRE The dress for any chorus performance is as follows: Boys: black shoes (no tennis shoes), black socks, black pants and chorus shirt. Hair must be neatly secured out of face. Girls: black shoes (no tennis shoes and no open toed shoes). black hose (no bare legs or feet), black pants, chorus shirt, no earrings. Hair must be neatly secured out of face. Attire will be checked at each performance. Students not in compliance will receive a maximum performance grade of 50 (F). Since performance grades are a major portion of the six-week s grade, a student could fail for not wearing proper attire. C O N C E R T A T T E N D A N C E Please note that the Christmas and Spring Concerts count as the semester test for all chorus students. Therefore, participation is mandatory. The only excused absences are sickness verified with a doctor s note, court appearances, and school imposed conflicts.
