Rex and His Loose Tooth By John Adam Memorial Students 2013-2014
Once upon a time, there was a young Tyrannosaurus Rex. If he smiled, you would see that he had a very big and sharp loose front tooth. Rex walked alone in the dark swampy forest and he did not smile.
He was a sad and lonely little dinosaur. Rex really liked to smile and laugh. He was afraid that his friends would tease him about his loose tooth so he hid from them.
Rex was crying. He walked through the forest when he spotted a cave. He was sure his friends would not see his loose tooth if he hid in the cave so in he went. All of a sudden, another T-Rex, a big bad bully, came stomping into the cave: "What are you doing in my cave?" he growled.
The bully didn't want anyone to come in his cave because he didn't want to be bothered. Rex told the big bad bully with the big bad voice that he was hiding from his friends. He was scared that his friends would laugh at him. Rex was really scared of the big bad bully with the big bad voice. Then the big bad bully started to tease and push Rex around. Rex ran out of the cave and there stood his friends.
"Where have you been Rex? We are so happy to see you! We have been looking everywhere for you?", exclaimed his three friends, Tara, T- Bone and Bronco. Rex did not smile back, even though he was thrilled and happy to see them. He was amazed his friends had come for him. He kept his lips tightly closed. He wiggled his sharp tooth with his long tongue and it was even looser now. "What's wrong Rex?" the friends asked when they noticed that Rex didn't act happy to see them. He thought about telling them about his loose tooth when suddenly they heard loud stomps! The four dinosaur friends quickly turned around and saw the Big Bad Bully coming out of his dark cave. He was as big as an oak tree, as smelly as swamp gas, and his teeth were sharp and yellow.
The Big Bad Bully roared, "I am going to get you for trespassing!" Rex looked at his friends and saw that they were trembling with fear. Rex knew it was up to him to save his friends. After all, they were in this situation because of him. Rex yelled at his friends: " RUN!" and as he screamed, his loose tooth flew out of his mouth.
Rex's tooth flew straight at the Big Bad Bully's forehead. The bully fell down with a loud roar. Rex's friends heard the enormous thump and realized Rex was still there, so they ran back to him. While they were running back, the Big Bad Bully stood up and roared ferociously at Rex. Rex roared back and told him to stop bullying him and scaring his friends. One of his friends picked up the tooth and said, "Is this your tooth?" "No... why would you think that?", Rex replied nervously. "Well', said one of his friends, "maybe because you are missing a tooth." "I didn't want to tell you guys because I was scared of your reaction," explained Rex. T-Bone responded, "We would never laugh at you Rex, you are our friend."
The frustrated Big Bad Bully started stomping towards Rex and his friends. He was stomping so hard that the ground started to shake. Rex turned around and yelled, "STOP! Wait! Let me explain before you try to hurt us."
What is it?!", demanded the Big Bad Bully. "I'm sorry, I didn't know it was your cave", admitted Rex. "You should have told me that it was your cave instead of intimidating me". The Big Bad Bully hesitated. "I guess you're right. I am sorry for roaring at you", grumbled the Big Bad Bully. "I am grumpy because I woke up on the wrong side of my boulder this morning." Bronco, the athletic and easy-going brontosaurus, suddenly suggested, "Hey! Why don't we play Tail Tag?" "Yeah, that's a great idea! Why don't we invite... ummm what's his name?", asked Tara the pterodactyl. "Carl", replied the Big Bad Bully. "My name is Carl."
"Sure, I'd love to play!", said Carl. "I do have one question though, how does Tara play, if she's a pterodactyl and doesn't have a tail like us?" "That's easy - we always tie a vine on my back", replied Tara. While they were playing Tail Tag, Carl was running as fast as the wind. Suddenly, he tripped over a gigantic rock, hit his head on a tree trunk, and fell in the mud. One of his sharp teeth fell out and landed in the mud puddle. Everyone saw him fall and they all started laughing when he stood up and was covered head-to-toe in mud. When Carl saw everyone laughing, he got extremely mad.
"ROAR!!! Stop making fun of me!" Carl shouted. "Sorry, we're not making fun of you and we didn't want to upset you. It's just that you do look kind of silly covered in mud", explained Bronco. "It's okay, I guess it was funny," Carl admitted. It had now been two hours since they started playing Tail Tag and they were getting very hungry. Their stomachs we're growling as hard as an earthquake. They all went to eat supper at Carl's cave. For supper, they ate big delicious cockroach sandwiches.
When everybody was finished eating, Carl suggested that they all go camping, since it was already getting dark. "That's a great idea!" T-Bone said excitedly. Since everybody agreed, Carl showed everyone a cool place where he used to camp with his dad, when he was younger. When they arrived, there was a nice sparkling lake and five huge boulders big enough for them to each sleep on. It was getting dark, so they lay down on the boulders to watch the pretty stars in the night sky. As they were looking at the stars, it reminded them of the famous movie Jurassic Park.
"Wow, this is the perfect ending to our day!" they all said together.
