When David was four years old, David was diagnosed with autism. David could barely speak; he would not talk to people or even make eye contact with them. To make matters worse, David had very poor muscle tone and could not hold a pencil withouta special grip. In other words, David had no ways to communicate with the world. Doctors said David was at least two years behind normal development, perhaps more. It would be difficult for him to catch up. In spite of all these challenges, David has grown to be active and respected member of the community. Playing the harp helped David through his recovery by connecting him with people.david started playing harp almost eleven years ago. At first his hands were very weak and could not play very loudly.
