IT S ALL IN THE STATE OF MIND If you think you are beaten you are; if you think you dare not, you won t; If you like to win, but don t think you can, it s almost a cinch you won t. If you think you ll lose, you re lost; for out in the world you ll find success begins with a fellow s will. It s all in the state of mind. For many a game is lost ere even a play is run, and many a coward fails ere even his work is begun. Think big and your deeds will grow, think small and you ll fall behind; Think that you can and you will: It s all in the state of mind. If you think you are outclassed you are; you ve got to think high to rise; You ve got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize. Life s battles don t always go to the stronger or faster man, The man who wins is the fellow who thinks he can.

THE MAN IN THE GLASS When you get what you want in your struggle for self And the world makes you king for a day, Just go to the mirror and look at yourself And see what that man has to say. For it isn t your father, mother, or wife Whose judgment upon you must pass; The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life Is the one staring back from the glass. Some people may think you a straight-shootin chum And call you a wonderful guy, But the man in the glass says you re only a bum If you can t look him straight in the eye. He s the fellow to please never mind all the rest, For he s with you clear up to the end. And you ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test If the man in the glass is your friend. You may fool the whole world down the pathway of life And get pats on the back as you pass, But your final reward will be heartaches and tears If you ve cheated the man in the glass!
