The band meets every June and July for a series of 6 weekly musical escapades, each of which includes a rehearsal and one concert. The concerts which are free and open to the public are presented each week on Thursdays in parks and other venues around the greater Big Rapids area. The band meets every June and July for a series of 6 weekly musical escapades, each of which includes one rehearsal and one concert. The concerts which are free and open to the public are presented each week on Thursdays in parks and other venues around the greater Big Rapids area. Each concert features a different program, making for rich musical encounters for our performing musicians, and for our community of friends, family, neighbors and visitors who come to watch and listen. This Communiversity Band is open to musically experienced adults, high school students, and advanced middle school students with a recommendation from their teachers. The band rehearses on Mondays from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the FSU Music Center. The 2006 rehearsal dates are: June 5, 12, 19 & 26, and July 5 (Wednesday) & July 10. There is no fee to play in the Summer Band. It is also possible to take Summer Band for credit at FERRIS STATE UNIVERSITY as Music 160. So for all of you musicians out there, young and old even if you haven t had your horn out of the case for a while grab your horns, hop on the bandwagon, and come help fill our summer skies with the sweet sounds of music by joining us for as many of the six weekly cycles of rehearsals and concerts as you re able to make!
