INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing the VTECH Sing n Learn CD Player learning toy! We at VTECH are committed to providing the best possible products to entertain and educate your child. The VTECH Sing n Learn CD Player learning toy is a characterized CD player for toddlers 6 months and up. Four light-up shape keys teach beginning colors and shapes as well as counting. Turn his arms to hear unique sound effects and melodies. Toddlers will enjoy watching the CD spin and eyes move as they groove to the music. INCLUDED IN THIS PACKAGE - One Sing n Learn CD Player learning toy - One instruction manual WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child s safety. BATTERY INSTALLATION 1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF. 2. Locate the battery cover on the back of the unit. Use a coin or screwdriver to loosen the screw. 3. Install 2 AA (UM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new, alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.) 4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure the battery cover. BATTERY NOTICE Install batteries correctly observing the polarity ( +, - ) signs to avoid leakage. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not use batteries of different types. Remove exhausted or new batteries from the equipment when the unit will not be used for an extended period of time. Do not dispose of batteries in fire. 3

Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries. The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES. NOTE: If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow these steps: 1. Please turn the unit OFF. 2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries. 3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries. 4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again. If the problem persists, please call our Consumer Services Department at 1-800-521-2010 in the U.S. or 1-800-267-7377 in Canada, and a service representative will be happy to help you. TO BEGIN PLAY 1. To begin play, slide the ON/OFF SWITCH to the ON ( ) position. 2. To adjust the volume, slide the VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH located on the back of the unit to the ( ) position for LOW VOLUME or to the ( HIGH VOLUME. ) position for 4

3. To turn the unit OFF, slide the ON/OFF SWITCH to the OFF ( ) position. Note: To preserve battery life, the Sing n Learn CD Player learning toy will power-down after approximately 30 seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button. ACTIVITIES A. TALKING MODE 1. Slide the MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to the TALKING MODE ( ) position. You will hear Let s dance! followed by a short tune. All the lights will flash randomly. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down with short tune. 2. Press the HEART BUTTON to hear Red heart followed by a fun sound effect. The corresponding light will flash with the voice, and all the lights will flash randomly with the sound effect. 5

3. Press the STAR BUTTON to hear Yellow star followed by a fun sound effect. The corresponding light will flash with the voice, and all the lights will flash randomly with the sound effect. 4. Press the CIRCLE BUTTON to hear Orange circle followed by a fun sound effect. The corresponding light will flash with the voice, and all the lights will flash randomly with the sound effect. 5. Press the TRIANGLE BUTTON to hear Green triangle followed by a fun sound effect. The corresponding light will flash with the voice, and all the lights will flash randomly with the sound effect. 6

6. Press the PIANO BUTTON to hear a random melody played with a piano sound. All the lights will flash randomly with the music. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down. 7. Press the TRUMPET BUTTON to hear a random melody played with a trumpet sound. All the lights will flash randomly with the music. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down. 8. Turn the LEFT ARM to hear a random sound effect. The lights will light up from left to right with the sound. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down. 9. Turn the RIGHT ARM to hear a random sound effect. The lights will light up from right to left with the sound. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down. 8

B. Melody Mode 1. Slide the MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to the MELODY MODE ( ) position. You will hear Let s sing! followed by a short tune. All the lights will flash randomly. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down with short tune. 2. Press the HEART BUTTON to hear one musical note played. The corresponding number of lights will light up. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down with short tune. 3. Press the STAR BUTTON to hear two musical notes played. The corresponding number of lights will light up. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down with short tune. 4. Press the CIRCLE BUTTON to hear three musical notes played. The corresponding number of lights will light up. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down with short tune. 9

5. Press the TRIANGLE BUTTON to hear four musical notes played. The corresponding number of lights will light up. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down with short tune. 6. Press the PIANO BUTTON to hear a random melody played with a piano sound. All the lights will flash randomly with the music. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down. 10

7. Press the TRUMPET BUTTON to hear a random melody played with a piano sound. All the lights will flash randomly with the music. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down. 8. Turn the LEFT ARM to hear a fun sound effect followed by a melody. The lights will light up from left to right with the sound effect and flash randomly with the melody. The CD will spin and the eyes will move up and down. 11

9. Turn the RIGHT ARM to hear a fun sound effect followed by a melody. The lights will light up from right to left with the sound effect and flash randomly with the melody. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time. 4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water. 12
