X is a young factory worker assigned to support a westernised city-boy who is enduring his Xhosa tribe s highly ritualised circumcision ceremony. X s return to the mountain camp allows for a secret relationship with a fellow carer. A triangle develops and the film contrasts macho themes with sensitive desires. No trailers Lovely wide-screen images of the French countryside provide the backdrop to this story of the women who were left behind to work the land while their menfolk were away fighting World War 1. The women worked hard and found independence which was uncomfortably interrupted when the men returned from the front. An affecting gentle-paced drama that avoids sentimentality. Wed 7 Nov MGC Presents: Red (pre-recorded) ( Cert TBC) Under the watchful gaze of his young assistant, and the threatening presence of a new generation of artists, Mark Rothko takes on his greatest challenge yet: to create a definitive work for an extraordinary setting. MGC Artistic Director Michael Grandage directs this first ever UK revival since directing the world premiere at the Donmar Warehouse in 2009. The production went on to win six Tony Awards, including Best Play. Fri 9 Nov War Above The Trenches (12A) Celebrating the 100th anniversary of WW1 this feature drama documentary reveals how the British and French airmen fought a desperate campaign to support the Western Front. As the eyes of the artillery, they guide the high explosives onto the enemy, the novelty and wonder of flight replaced by the cold certainty of violent death. Produced by a Staffordshire film production company using local locations, actors and crew, bringing a truly filmatic experience to the horrors of the great war.
