Following historically low investment levels in 2009-2010, companies now have to reinvest. n The global equipment rental market is valued at around E60-65 billion. Typical global spending on equipment by the rental sector will be in the E15-25 billion range. n Rental companies reduced investment during the financial crisis and are now spending in order to renew their fleets. n The top 100 rental companies in the world (from the IRN100 list) invested around E10 billion in their fleets in 2012, three times more than in 2010. n A third of all European companies expect to increase investment by more than 10% in 2014. Almost 40% of multinational renters will increase spending by at least 10% in 2014. n North American rental companies are investing heavily. The American Rental Association (ARA) is forecasting double digit rental growth in 2014 and 2015. n The European Rental Association (ERA) forecasts a return to growth in 2014, with rental revenues expected to increase by 2.0-2.5% in 2014. Rental penetration grows n In North America more than 50% of equipment is now sold directly into the rental market. n Economic uncertainty is leading contractors and other equipment users to consider rental before investing in new equipment. n More and more contractors are considering outsourcing their equipment needs to rental companies. n The rental model is being exported throughout the world, with rental markets growing rapidly in South America, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa. All ERA members receive copies of IRN. Many of Europe s largest rental companies are ERA members, and 11 national rental associations have also joined the association. IRN is read by rental companies worldwide International Rental News (IRN) is the only equipment rental magazine with a significant and expanding readership in every rental market in the world. Our 10500 readers include the major developed rental markets of Europe, North America, Australia and Japan, and new markets in South America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia. IRN s circulation is constantly being updated to reflect developments in the worldwide equipment rental market, ensuring that the magazine is reaching equipment buyers wherever they are in the world. In the past year, IRN s circulation team have further strengthened the circulation in both developed and developing markets. The core of the circulation remains Europe and North America the world s two largest rental markets and over the past year we have deepened this circulation by expanding our reach into the IRN100 companies - the largest 100 in the world - as well as the top 100 rental companies in North America. Several thousand copies go to readers at IRN100 companies, businesses that alone represent as much as 45-50% of the total worldwide rental market and who spent more than 10 billion on equipment in 2012. We have also deepened our circulation coverage in North America by ensuring that senior managers and owners at the top 100 rental companies are included in the circulation. These companies represent 45% of the North American market. At the same time, we continue to strengthen our readership in developing markets, via circulation research and by working with local rental associations. In recent years we have added readers in Brazil, Romania, China and elsewhere. We have also filled gaps in these developing markets, adding rental industry readers in up to 20 new countries this year, including Angola, Cambodia, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Jamaica.
