TDV 3000 The future begins now The TDV 3000 liquid cooled transmitter series represents the latest state-of-theart technology. With its forward looking features and design it is an investment in the future. Besides the new amazing features implemented a big focus was set on four important topics: Efficiency Reliability Compactness Maintenance The power consumption was reduced impressively due to the introduction of a new reliable transistor model and a new cooling design. The improvements promise a more costs-effective long term operation. The rack space is used more efficiently. The exciter unit dimensions noticeably shrunk and more output power per rack could be realized. One 19 rack takes up to 10 liquid cooled power amplifier units reaching a maximal DVB-T/H output power of 6300 W. New inventions like the quick connection for the power amplifier, exciter and system control unit make the installation and maintenance effortless. Transmitter design The TDV 3000 series has got a highly sophisticated transmitter design. The optional integrated laptop is hidden behind one height unit in the center of the transmitter system. Once drawn you have access to all important transmitter settings and states through an integrated laptop system. A full-sized keyboard and a touch-pad can be used for interaction with the system. Smooth quick-connection for liquid and cable connectors have been integrated for the power amplifiers as well as for the exciter and System Control Unit.
Dual Cast Liquid Cooled UHF Transmitter TDV 3000 Whether you would like to connect the liquid pipes on the top or on the bottom of the racks the new cooling design allows you to choose in every moment. Finally, we can state that the new design is not only more compact and flexible, moreover it lowers the production and maintenance costs significantly. Components The TDV 3000 main components are: Component Type Exciter Unit DVE Liquid cooled Power Amplifier Unit PAU 3000 Power Display Unit PDU System Control Unit SCU* Optional Integrated Laptop Liquid Cooling Unit LCU * for reserve systems Exciter The new exciter model DVE comes along with many new features in a very compact design. Due to the introduction of digital signal processing, the height could be reduced to only one height unit. Many features are now integrated as standard. The SNMP/HTTPs functionality for remote control via Ethernet interface and a highly accurate GPS receiver are already implemented. Supporting different standards and being tunable within the VHF and UHF band makes the DVE extremely flexible. At any time the exciter can be switched between analog TV and digital TV. Additionally, no hardware tuning is needed when changing the channel. In order to improve the performance of the transmitter system a digital linear and non-linear pre-corrector is included. The exciter is equipped with 4 ASI inputs at the rear panel and 1 switchable ASI output for testing purposes. Different reference signals as 10 MHz, 1PPS and GPS can be chosen depending on a customized priority list. The GPS receiver can even be disabled if not used. The choice is on the operator's side. The firmware and software of the exciter can be updated remotely via the Ethernet Series 3000
TDV 3000 interface or over the USB interface on the front panel. Quick connection makes the maintenance and installation very easy. The DVE exciter is fully compatible within the TDV 3000/3100 Series which gives a huge improvement in the spare parts handling and ordering process. Liquid Cooled Power Amplifier We are all aware of the increasing power costs and it is well-known that long term operation costs play a decisive role in purchasing new equipment. For that reason our developers set their focus on reducing the power consumption. A single power amplifier drawer reaches an DVB-T/H output power of approx. 700 W with 6 PA modules. Due to the new LDMOS technology and the design of the amplifier modules the transmitter efficiency could be improved up to 24% with further potential improvement. Besides the improvement in the transmitter efficiency and output power, the new power amplifier PAU 3000 is equipped with a new safety feature. An automatic power level control makes the system more reliable. Each power amplifier controls its output power to a certain limit in order to prevent an overdrive and a possible breakdown of the transistors. An independent control and monitoring unit (PCB) and an integrated power supply for each power amplifier are mandatory. Finally a complete quick connection system for the liquid, mains and control interfaces is introduced for easier maintenance and installation. Power Display Unit The Power Display Unit PDU shows the output power and the reflection from the antenna in a clearly arranged LCD display. It measures only one height unit and gives a legible indication of the status of the transmitter without touching the transmitter.
Dual Cast Liquid Cooled UHF Transmitter TDV 3000 System Control Unit The TDV 3000 series supports all common reserve concepts controlled by the System Control Unit SCU. Different solutions can be realized on request: Dual Drive (Passive Exciter Reserve) Passive Reserve (1+1) Active Reserve with 3dB Release n+1 ; n 6 Any settings and control can be done through the webbrowser (HTTPs) or the SNMP interface. Liquid Cooling Unit The external LCU is part of the entire transmitter liquid cooling system. Equipped with two redundant pumps it ensures the efficient cooling of the heating spots inside the power amplifier. External stainless steel heat exchangers are connected to the LCU. As cooling fluid a ready mixture of distilled water and antifreeze (Antifrogen) is to be used. The system control unit connects the transmitter to the internet through the Ethernet interface.
