DIRECTOR S STATEMENT It s been six years since we put down the main idea, concept and storyline of Run to Ground with my friend and screenwriter Balázs Lovas. It s been a long time, we made a few features since then. The script was developed on script forums, we ve lost many characters, storylines were pitched out and been rewritten. But the main concept and the goal has never changed. Finally we shoot the 7th version, but the essence remained the same. Our protagonists are lost drifters who try to find their way home. All of them are victims of the outcome of their own actions. Every action of ours has an effect on who knows how many hundreds of decisions of other people. It s a cycle in which it s impossible to stay immaculate. This story could happen to anyone of us. Ordinary people fight with their demons for life and death. This movie examines the consequences of one single act from three different aspects, in real time, with a tricky structure, and a slick twist. A thrilling suspense drama, dealing with issues, I wish no one has to ever handle. Who do average people prove to be in extreme situations? Where is the border between becoming a hero and turning into a raging beast? What can stop the spiral of revenge and brutality? Can cruelty ever be justified? Can our humanity overcome our survival instincts? We are trying to find the answer to these basic questions while discovering what kind of terror is hiding behind our neighbour s door.
