Motion JPEG, known for its excellent reliability, is employed to compress the digital images. Three types of recording / playback are available, depending on the purpose for recording: frame recording / frame playback mode, which ensures twice as good vertical resolution; field recording / field playback, which enables a recording with shorter intervals; and frame recording / field playback, which enables clear display of still pictures. Packet recording system drastically extends tape life The tape retention feature separates the tape and the head while data is being accumulated Twin video memory The comes with a built-in memory that can store as many as 156 frames of video. Packet recording refers to a system of recording the 156 frames stored in the memory at one time. While the pictures are being stored, the tape retention feature separates the tape from the head, thus significantly extending tape life. One tape (in 168-hour mode) can be recorded over 100 times. This feature also reduces wear on the head, saving on the maintenance. Pre-alarm & Post-alarm recording features 156 frames from the past can be recorded Pre-alarm recording When an alarm signal comes in, 156 frames of data in the memory are preserved for immediate recording. The effect of this feature is to record events immediately prior to the alarm. Post-alarm recording Once an alarm recording has terminated, post-alarm recording can take place with separate settings. Features Tape management The is capable of adding tape management information directly onto the tape. Video loss alarm If the video signal feed is lost, a buzzer sounds and the word VIDEO LOSS is displayed on the screen. Data protection against power failure If power fails, the VCR stops after a built-in i-cd battery records all picture data already in the memory to the tape. 30-day memory back-up A built-in lithium battery is used to protect various VCR settings for 30 days. Resume function If a recording is interrupted by a power failure, the VCR will automatically resume the recording when power is restored. End-of-tape alarm During a recording, an alarm can be set to give off a buzzer sound, along with a message on the digital display panel, either at the end-of-tape or when there is approx. 5% of the tape left. Alarm counter This feature allows the user to keep and display up to 100 records of the date and time of alarms. Alarm scan This feature allows the user to view the first 5 seconds of every alarm recording while in FF mode (or in REWID mode). Alarm search This feature allows the user to search for an alarm recording within the range of 99 alarm recordings (forward and backward) from the current tape position by typing in the number. The result of the search will be displayed on-screen with a still picture at the beginning of the recording. Trigger shot recording When the VCR detect a trigger shot signal, it will start a recording in 12-hour mode for the specified number of frames. The number of frames can be set to either 1, 4, 9, or 16.
