Danish Showcase with Mathias Reumert / Ekkozone Mathias Reumert is a Danish composer, conductor, arranger, percussionist and the founder of the ensemble Ekkozone. One of Reumert s best-known projects is Ein Trommelspiel, an outlandish musical theatre project undertaken with percussionist David Hildebrandt and director Tzara Tristana. One critic wrote of the work, they stand there in their black leather coats and hammer away while silver dust falls from the sky, [ ] See this show before NASA sends it off as space entertainment! Reumert founded Ekkozone in 2013 by engaging top-flight orchestral musicians as scientists in a musical laboratory. Ekkozone has performed works by Per Nørgård, Toru Takemitsu, Karlheinz Stockhausen

and Steve Reich, among others. Their fresh approach could be challenging and perhaps puzzling to some, but careful listeners will recognise in Ekkozone nothing less than a colossal shift ahead in the musical landscape. Danish Showcase with Bolette Roed / Imaginary Soundtrack Welcome to the world premiere of this new brand new Danish quartet presenting music from across the contemporary music spectrum and influences from jazz, tango and folk music. One of Denmark s foremost recorder players, Bolette Roed, has established this quartet blending the classical sound of the recorder with vibraphone, double bass and bandoneon. The Italian bandoneon player and composer Paolo Russo is based in Denmark, and for this Classical:NEXT occasion he has composed a new musical journey across Italian colours, contemporary Nordic landscapes and jazz improvisations, with a distant echo of Argentine tango.

Imaginary Soundtrack finds its inspiration in the magical world of film music.
