Sinfonia Musical Landscapes Lunchtime Concert Series
Welcome Welcome to the North East Wales Sinfonia s lunchtime concert series devoted to chamber music from around the world. This series of concerts will take you on a journey around the world, allowing you to experience classical music from a variety of different cultures. We present a series of 12 concerts featuring composers from all corners of the globe; from Debussy to Piazolla, Szymanowski to Brahms, and Webern to Bach. The colourful blend of classical and contemporary music will be performed against the backdrop of the s Contemporary Arts exhibitions, creating an exciting fusion between visual and aural art. The concerts will feature musicians who perform with the NEW Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra, musicians who are beginning to establish themselves as international artists. Highlights of the series include the award winning Solem String Quartet who will perform a European concert featuring works by Debussy and Webern, and the unconventional Amici Bassoon Trio will present the Bassoon as a solo instrument as you have never heard before. The Dwyres Harp Duo will shine a light on the different styles of music composed for two harps, whilst the Caurus Wind Quartet will fill the gallery with the intoxicating rhythms of Latin American Tango. Standing apart from the rest of the concerts in the series is the performance of Olivier Messiaen s Quartet for the End of Time; a piece written whilst the composer was a prisoner of war in Poland during World War 2. The concert will form part of Wrexham s commemorations during Remembrance Weekend, a poignant reminder of the difficulties and sacrifices made during times of war. All concerts in the series are FREE ENTRY thanks to the generous support of the Arts Council of Wales. We hope you can join us on this exploration into classical chamber music and look forward to seeing you on the journey.
