Schedule: 2018 Paris Music Tour: June 8-17, 2018 As of 5/8/2018 Dear Music Colleagues: We are pleased to have you join our MIDAM 2018 Paris music tour. Here are some important things to remember about your upcoming trip with us: 1. It is critical and essential that all of your music be thoroughly learned prior to your arrival date. Bring a black folder to cradle your music and have a pencil available to mark your score during rehearsals. 2. English is spoken nearly everywhere; although learning a few greetings in French is always appreciated and fun. 3. Concert attire: For men: black suit jacket and black pants, white shirt and black tie or bow tie, black shoes; For women: Black top and bottom, short or long sleeves, comfortable black shoes (any type); For everyone: do NOT wear jewelry and please, no cologne for the dress rehearsals or concerts. Please bring a black folder to cradle your music during performances. 4. You are in the center of large and important city so everything is available to buy with credit cards and cash (euros). Regarding euros, we would recommend bringing some from the U.S. prior to arriving in Paris, just for convenience. You can convert dollars to euros everywhere and anywhere with your passport at any bank in Paris and around your hotel. 5. There is going to be some walking to rehearsals, concerts and general tours. Be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes and a hat for the sun. Light, comfortable clothes are the best things to wear.

6. There will be some evenings where you are having an evening out, so casual/smart attire is highly recommended. Gentlemen should bring a sports jacket for some evenings.europe is more formal than the U.S.A., especially at night. 2 7. Be sure that all of your luggage has MIDAM CHORAL TOUR and your name broadly on it so it can be easily identified. We look forward to seeing you all in Paris on June 8! Sincerely, Peter Tiboris General Music Director MidAm International

3 CONDUCTORS: Earl Rivers, Director of Music at Knox since 1974, is also the Director of Choral Studies and Head of the Division of Ensembles and Conducting at the University of Cincinnati College- Conservatory of Music. From 1988-2008 he was Music Director and Conductor of the Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati, a professional chamber choir. He has taught conducting, master classes, and lectured at The Juilliard School and Westminster Choir College of Rider University. Internationally, he has guest conducted and lectured in Seoul, South Korea, the Taipei International Choral Festival in Taiwan, and most recently at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in Chengdu, China. In the USA he has led festival choirs in Carnegie Hall and more than 35 years of programs for conventions of the American Choral Directors Association. Francis Bardot began singing from the age of 8, under the mentoring of Philippe Debat, who was the student and friend of the Choirmaster of the Escolania de Montserrat, Dom Ireneu Segarra, and was to become the Choirmaster of the Cathedral of Monaco. This musical legacy has left its imprint on his whole career. A tenor soloist specializing in Oratorios from the age of 18, he gave 2,000 concerts in France and abroad, performing with such unique artists as Ernst Haeffliger, Roger Soyer, Rita Streich and Barbara Schlick, and producing some twenty recordings under labels including RCA and Deutsche Grammophon.Nurtured by a deep passion for the humanities, he taught Latin, Ancient Greek, classical French literature, and Philosophy and became at the age of 24 a professor at the Institut Supérieur de Pédagogie (college of education science) of the Institut Catholique de Paris, where he founded his first choir school for children. He then decided to dedicate himself entirely to conducting choirs and orchestras and founded, among other choirs, the Petits Chanteurs du Monde (The World s Little Singers) under the sponsorship Unesco and Unicef. At the head of the Children s Choirs of the Paris Opera and in cooperation with the Paris Orchestra, conducted by Arthur Oldham over a period of 23 years, he developed vocal techniques geared to children and gave master classes on this subject at the University of Los Angeles and the Beijing National Conservatoire. During the same period, he also served for ten years as the Choirmaster of the Cathedral of Chartres. His numerous recordings, all of which were acclaimed by the critics, testify to forty years of ongoing, fruitful partnership with prestigious conductors, lyrical singers, pianists and organists. Francis Bardot is President of SFCC : Société Française des Chefs de Choeur (French National Choral Directors Association).
