Community News From 1984 to 2016 (32 years) Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle To each and everyone who were involved in anyway with us at Kelly`s Cross in regard to the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle. A very big Thank You! To the very dedicated Committee in Killarney, Kenmare, Sneem, Castlecove and Caherdaniel. The wonderful hard work of all the Stewards along the very busy route which was so organised. Thank You! To the very special couple who came to us on Friday night in the cold and wet with our delivery of snacks etc. You were so exhausted. I hope young Clodagh got over the cold and tiredness. A big Thank You! To the man who delivered the toilets. Thank You! And to Kerry County Council who did a very special Clean Up promptly. It was just great. Thank You! To Michael Healy Ray who had the damaged road outside our house repaired in time for the cyclists. Thank You! To Caitriona Casey, my neighbour, who danced a Jig and Reel for all the thirsty cyclists. And to all the young children Aisling and Caoibhlin (Breen), the triplets Padraig, Sean, Michael (Cas ey), Calum O`Sullivan (Dublin) who had a ball blowing (Kerry) up the balloons on Friday evening and getting the buntings ready, up and down the stairs was never so busy. Finally to Sean and Kieran; c/o Murphy`s Bar and Brendan Galvin; Hardware, Mary and Garbhan; D O`Shea who helped us with the seating. To Hillary O`Sullivan who helped us out with water containers. Thank you to all! The evening finished with an arranged Bottle Water Fight, to drown Danny Breen. All the children got drenched, not a dry towel in the house. I went to bed early very happy that it all went well and that everyone was looked after to the best of our ability. I believe that it was all on Face Book and in the local Kerry Man and Kerry Eye papers. With our kind regards to all from Betty & Jack Breen. From Kelly`s Cross, Sneem ( Hut of the Whispering ) Sneem Community Notice Board Thank you to those who have offered to help with the Newsletter. Community News Kenmare and District Garden Club There s rarely a dull moment in this Club. Although we have not had an evening speaker in July and there won t be one in August either, we have nevertheless been quite active. In the middle of June we had a lovely day out in the Tralee area visiting amongst other places, Liscahane Nursery which had super plants and a return visit to Dhu Varren. We then spent two most enjoyable mornings at beautiful gardens owned by Club members in Kenmare and Castlemaine. This trend will continue in July with proposed visits to 3 Members gardens in Sneem and a further garden in Cappanacush. It is fascinating to see our Members gardens - now we know why they re always buying plants on days out!! We will be recommencing evening functions in September. Thank You Our Golf Classic which was held on 25th June was another success. The weather was good and the whole atmosphere was outstanding. Many, many thanks to all who participated in any way! Thanks to Parknasilla Resort for sponsoring a lovely first prize for the Raffle, to all our local businesses and individuals who were so generous, to all the Golf Clubs in Munster who gave us golf prizes and to all who played and to those who helped to organize the event. A total of 3.540 will go to St. Francis School and this, added to 9.000 from a barn dance, held in Gneeveguilla will be presented in a cheque to St. Francis School in due course.
