GENERAL 1.01 Ths secton provdes dentfcaton and orderng nformaton for the A- and B-type connector cables used to termnate equpment and apparatus on customer premses. 1.02 Ths secton s ressued to: Add nformaton on the B25G connector cable n Table A and Fg. 11 Add nformaton on the B50C connector cable n Table A and Fg. Rate the A25M connector cable MD; recommended replacement cable s A25K (Table A) Change Table A to show applcaton of KS-16785,L16 plug and KS-1660,L receptacle Substtute the word "receptacle" for "connector" when referrng to female type connectng devces; "connector" s a general term ncludng both plugs (male) and receptacles (female). 1.03 The solderless connectors wll be suppled wth ether metal or plastc hoods on the A25B, A25D, A25M, B25A, and B25C cables. These cables wll also contnue to be manufactured wth soldered connectors havng metal hoods. The solderless plugs and receptacles are coded as follows: KS-443,L2 (plastc hood) and KS-1668,L (metal hood) plug-replace KS-1668,L3 KS-442,L2 (plastc hood) and KS-1660,L (metal hood) connector-replace KS-1660,L1 1.04 Adapters, servce fttngs, termnals, and cover assembles, for use wth connector cables and cords, are covered n the approprate secton n Dvson 461. 2. DENTFCATON 2.01 Purpose: To provde a quck means for connectng nsde wre cable to telephone apparatus by matng KS-type receptacles to matchng plugs (Fg. 1). 2.02 Desgn Features: The A- and B-type connector cables consst of the followng: -gauge conductors that have a tnned or untnned fnsh Vnyl nsulaton, whch conforms to the even-count color-code scheme, on ndvdual conductors Outer jackets of lght olve gray vnyl Cables equpped wth 50-contact plug(s) or receptacle(s) except as noted n Table A Nylon draw strng under vnyl jacket whch facltates removal of the jacket for termnatng conductors. Plugs and receptacles used on these cables are nether waterproof nor mostureproof. A termnal box, servce fttng, or cover assembly should be used at nstallatons where mosture mght enter the connectors through moppng operatons, condensaton, etc. 2.03 A-type connector cables are furnshed as sngle-ended (one end equpped, the other raw-ended) or double-ended (both ends equpped wth the same KS-type plug or receptacle). B-type cables are furnshed double-ended only wth a plug at one end and a receptacle on the opposte. Refer to Table A for detaled nformaton. 2.04 Those -par connector cable conductors, whch are termnated at the receptacle or plug-n nonstandard color-code sequence, are shown n Table B. Table A s a lst of all the cables and ther ntended use. 2.05 Certan cables are furnshed wth plugs at one end and plugs and termnal strps at the other. Fgures 7 through show the cable plug, termnal strp, and lead color assgnments. 2.06 The B25C connector cable permts use of a 6051-type key (11 pckup and hold) fed through a 25-par connector cable usng a nonstandard cutdown. Refer to Dvson 5 for wrng. 2.07 Orderng Gude: Cable, Connector-Specfy proper code number (double- or sngle-ended) and length n feet. Refer to Table A. Page 2
