562 CO NTENTS PROFESSIONAL DIRECTIVES OF THE 6TH FIVE YEAR PLAN FOR LIBRARIANSHIP. The article is an extract from the respective document of the Ministry of Culture which lays down the educational tasks for the 6th Five Year Plan. Special care must be taken to develop the unity and interrelationship of social, economical and cultural tasks. In the new plan period librarians must lay stress on three objectives: 1. to develop the information activity in the field of special literature; 2. to extend the circle of library users (with special regard to children and juvenile readers); 3. to improve cooperation by developing school libraries, in general, and the quality of services; the development of the centralized supply system must be emphasized in particular. The directive deals in detail with the assistance provided for research-development and production, with the problems of central library services, up-to-date organization of work and library system as well as with the development of technology, with the special tasks of libraries according to library types. 465 470.p. SZINAINÉ LÁSZLÓ Zsuzsa PLAYING WITH NUMBERS. County libraries in the light of statistics. The Centre for Library Science and Methodology analysed, on the basis of statstical data from 1978, the state, degree of supply, organization of county libraries. Further on, the basic area of libraries, the number of their staff, the funds for acquisition, their yearly accessioning, the enrolled readers, library visitors, the lending data were examined. The data were analysed in the first place in respect of their development rate. On the basis of data the attempt was made to state the role of county libraries playing in the provision of the county and city libraries respectively, and the level of provision for readers and library visitors. The evaluation of data, prepared in 1979, will offer the opportunity for a more extensive and more detailed analysis of the situation. 471-485.p.

In 1979, an investigation was prepared concerning the technical tools in the higher education and public library networks. In the higher education network the college libraries are the most ill-equipped while in the public library network the libraries of the type B (city, village libraries) have the most incomplete technical equipments. In spite of the fact that the average age of equipments in these libraries is 2-4 years less than in university and county libraries their technical condition is not better. In the public libraries a great part of technical tools is of audiovisual origin, reprographic equipments and microfilm technical tools are available to a lesser degree. One part of college libraries has no kind of tools or one or two only. However, large university libraries with great tradition have a stock o f modem tools. 486 498.p. BOBOKNÊ BELÂNYI Beáta AUDIO-VISUAL DOCUMENTS IN LIBRARY COLLECTIONS.-In the last decade the demands of society for information underwent a great change. We are living in an era of permanent training where, in addition to teaching, learning and self-education have an increasingly greater part. Libraries must encourage by all means the success of this process and here audio-visual documents since people are by nature of audio-visual structure have an important role to play. They will change strongly the information habits of the future generation. Work with audio-visual documents is changing within each library type. The article analyses the strategies of organizing different collections, of processing and services. It underlines the position taken up in the integration of collection, in the integrated catalogues and complex services. 499 505.p. KAMARÁS István WOMEN AND MEN AS READERS OF LITERATURE.-Does the belonging to sex bear a part in the selecting of reading pieces? And if so, how large is the consequence of this factor as compared with others? The author illustrates with statistical data his investigation which demonstrates that, in addition to similarities of large degree, characteristic differences are perceptible between women and men in the selection of reading pieces. Other statistical data demonstrate representatively that men and women of different age, profession and qualification read the same books probably in a different way. However, investigations of experience form prove that with books of similar interpretation no marked differences exist between men and women as regards the composition of literary world of experiences and of literary taste. 5 0 6-5 14.p.

SKALICZKI Judit BRITISH AND SCANDINAVIAN PUBLIC LIBRARY LAWS ON ADUIO-VISUAL DOCUMENTS. This study presents the library laws issued in Great Britain, Denmark, Finland and Norway; the common feature of the laws is emphasized according to which the organizing of audio-visual documents into the collection is not a possibility but a duty of the libraries. Particular attention is drawn to a British law from 1850 which lays down that all materials which users may request belong to the collections of libraries.
