Apartments that face the pool command a higher price than those that do not. Condominiums that enjoy sea view can worth millions here. Why are people willing to exhaust their coffers so that they are able to have Water in front of their residences? In this issue of Prosper- Times, I shall offer you a Feng Shui perspective of the miraculous power of water on your house or apartment. Feng Shui ( 风水 ) literally means Wind and Water. A pool of water holds the energies or Qi, while flowing water carries Qi along. Presence of water catchment areas and the study of water flows are extremely important in analysing the Feng Shui configuration of a certain place. Having water in the correct place will bring good luck and prosperity. On the contrary, placing the fish pond or fish tank in the wrong sector will lead to bad luck and calamities.

It could also be mercilessly catastrophic, gentle flowing, stagnant, clean or polluted. Sea, rivers and lakes are considered natural water, while reservoirs, swimming pools and monsoon canals are categorised as man-made water. Nowadays, in our urban landscape, it may difficult to find real water, thus the directional meandering of roads are deemed to be virtual water that also brings along masses of energies with it. Generally, we would like water to be clean, gentle flowing and without unpleasant odour. Rule of Thumb The general rule of thumb is to have water in front and not at the back of your house. In addition, the land in front has to be low lying. This applies to all types of water, including virtual water too. That means you should have roads in front of your house and not at the back. A flyover in front of your house is deemed as unfavourable if it is higher than your residence. This is because it signifies water overhead and it has a drowning effect on the occupants, thus causing undue stress and anxiety.

Next, check the given table for your auspicious sector. Lastly, use a compass to identify that sector and place a fish tank or water feature there to start activating the auspicious energies.
