CLAWS! CAT FIGHTS!" CRAZY SHOWS! EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW To the fans who supported her and to the haters who didnt, 2017 s hottest new rapper Lucky $hay tells our interviewer everything thats happened over the past year. From her crazy show experiences, fueds with other famous rappers and her new album ($ilver Tongue) which is on sale 17th Feb 2017! An incident happened at your London show that made headlines! Care to elaborate? Ever since I debuted into the music world under Atlantic records I made a lot of enemies. A certain rapper (Juice E) hated me more than the rest, last night she felt the need to make that know by showing up to my show and making a scene. In my opinion it was very childish of her, were both mature enough to handle this like adults but she s just asking for a fight. Do you believe she s your rival? Not at all, to consider her on my level would be like comparing a dog with wolves! Her rap game is a joke going against me she d be eaten alive. One day when she improves it would be fun to go against her but until then she s not worth thinking about. In your song Bark and Bite you said there s a difference between just doing it and doing it right! Cheap watered down drink s is what her music be like was that directed at her? Not specifically at her but at a number of other artists that have criticized me and my music over the past few years. When I brought out my first album (Trust. Respect. Courage.) I gained a lot of dislike amongst the rap community for my lyrical content for it being too real and blunt, I got a lot of people calling me fake and a poser. So in my down time I focused on their harsh words and created my own to get back at them. I stayed in the studio day and night, I wrote lyrics until my head hurt but it was all worth it because I bettered myself. I wanted to show them that the girl they made fun of is now two steps ahead of them. Speaking of the new album what inspired it? Recently I went to a Jessi H.O show and seeing her really inspired me, the way she presented herself on stage and connected with her fans was exactly what I wanted! Her lyrics really made a huge impact it made me realise I needed to up my game if I wanted to get ahead. Which other artists do you admire? Ever since I was young my mother always had a strong love for hip hop and rap, so whatever she listened to I listened to. But the main artists that stood out for me were Lauryn hill, Destiny s child, Missy Elliot and TLC. I loved the idea of a strong powerful woman creating music, it was my dream to be like them and now I m living that dream! LIKE COMPARING A DOG WITH WOLVES! What was the first rap you learned? The first rap song I learned was No Diggity by Blackstreet, it was for a music competition when I was 14. I practiced very day after school and found that I enjoyed rapping, it felt right as if I d been doing it all my life! Sadly I didn t win the competition but it was still a great learning experience. How did you get confidence performing live? At first I naturally had a lot of confidence because my personality s just like that, but when people started to criticize my music my confidence just disappeared! My manager said it was if I wasn t even on stage and it was just a record playing. I was upset about it for a long time and even cancelled a tour to avoid going up on stage. After awhile my popularity started to drop and I saw how badly it was effecting me, so I decided to do something about it. I Started working with 1 million dance studios. Even when I was bad at the dancing they taught me different moves I could use on stage and I also gained a lot of friends who understood what I was going through. Now when I go up on stage and use those certain moves it feels like there with me and I don t feel so nervous. How do you handle mistakes during a performance? The best way to handle mistakes on stage is to act like you did it on purpose! The worst thing to do is stop your performance because then people will defiantly notice. When I did my second performance on my GOLD tour I fell off stage but I jumped back up quickly and high fived a lot of fans to play it off. Being on stage is about having fun and connecting with your fans so worrying about mistakes isn t worth it. What advice would you give to beginners who are nervous to start a rap career? Believe in yourself! Any career choice can be yours through hard work and determination, all you have to do is be persistent and not take no for an answer. Every artist you look up to has been in your position none of them started above you if anything some may have started below. LUCKY $HAY S NEW ALBUM $ILVER TONGUE IS SET TO BE REALEASED ON 17TH FEBRUARY 2017 THROUGH ATLANTIC RECORDS ON THERE OFFICAL WEBSITE. NEW UK TOUR SEE GIG PAGE FOR DETAILS!
