OPERATNG PRNCPLES The operaton prncples of the GENUS POWER COMB can be summarzed n the followng fgure: The autotransformer has 8 outputs, each gvng a dfferent voltage. From the control panel you can set the desred voltage level. Power devces are drven through the mcroprocessor control unt, so that the regulator s output s drectly connected to the output wth ts voltage level set. The output s drectly connected to the 230V nput lne, wth a varaton that can range up to ± 15%, both n "BYPASS" mode and "WARM UP" cycle. As t s used a transformer, the voltage on the center output s drectly affected by the varaton of the nput voltage VN. For example, f there s a 5% ncrease of the nput lne, there wll be a resultng voltage ncrease of the output lne. The regulator makes the "WARM UP" cycle after ts start, and then moves nto the "SAVNG " mode whch falls n the area of savngs. The tme duraton of the "WARM UP" cycle s set and dsplayed on the control panel under the "WARM UP TME" secton. The output voltage level s set and dsplayed on the control panel under the " RATO SELECTON secton. (REFER TO THE PARAGRAPH)

FRST START Before swtchng on and perform the functonal test of the regulator, t s essental to check all electrcal wrngs are properly made (REFER TO THE PARAGRAPH) Make sure the ground wre s properly connected Check the presence of the protectve devce upstream the unt, makng sure t meets the requrements stated on the plate of the regulator Check the tghtness of the connector s screws. Power up the regulator only after havng checked the above lst. f everythng s ok, the lamps wll lght up mmedately. The regulator performs the "WARM UP " cycle. Lamps are drectly connected to the 230V nput lne. The green "POWER" led, the yellow "WARM UP" led and the yellow "BYPASS" led should lght up on the control panel. Both the red "WARM UP TME" and the "RATO SELECTON" leds wll swtch on, accordng to the manufacturer test. The GENUS POWER COMB goes nto savng mode after havng fnshed the warm-up cycle, brngng ts output to the voltage set on the "RATO SELECTON" parameter, correspondng to the lghtng red led. The green "SAVNG" led starts lghtng and the yellow "WARM UP" and "BYPASS" leds swtch off. The regulator remans n ths condton untl next restarts or settngs. The "WARM UP TME" and "RATO SELECTON" values set by the manufacturer are not always the same. f there are any anomales, see the "TROUBLESHOOTNG" paragraph.

SETTNG THE WARM UP CYCLE There are types of lamps or partcular nstallaton condtons (e.g. hgh length of the lne that causes sgnfcant voltage drops), whch make mpossble for the lghtng of lamps at voltages below a certan threshold. For ths reason, after ts swtchng on, the regulator starts the "WARM UP" cycle durng whch the lamps are connected drectly to the 230V ± 15% lne voltage, whch guarantees ther regular lghtng. The duraton of ths cycle s equal to the tme correspondng to the "WARM UP TME" level sgnaled by the red led swtched on, and s set by pressng the key n the "WARM UP" zone on the control panel. WARM UP TME 1. 10 secs. 2. 4 mns. 3. 8 mns. 4. 16 mns. f you press ths key repeatedly, you enable the next level untl you return perodcally to the level 1 (1... 2... 3... 4... 1... 2... etc). Changes n the warm-up tme made durng the warm up cycle have no nstant effect, but only after the next tme the regulator wll be swtched on. Durng ths phase, the yellow "WARM UP" and "BYPASS" leds reman smultaneously lt. f you connect loads to the output of the regulator after ts warm-up cycle, the voltage settng may not be suffcent to turn on some types of lamps. f you want to ext from the warm-up cycle before the set tme, just press the bypass "SET/RESET" key, so that the regulator goes on the savng mode.

SETTNG THE "RATO SELECTON" VOLTAGE LEVEL After the warm-up cycle, the regulator goes n "SAVNG" mode. The yellow "WARM UP" led turns off and the green "SAVNG" led lt. n ths state the regulator output s at the voltage correspondng to the level showed by the red led n the "RATO SELECTON" area on the control panel. Act on the two keys to change the level as shown below. RATO SELECTON VOUT V% Wa% Wd% 1 191 83 31% 36% 2 194 84 29% 34% 3 197 85 27% 32% 4 200 87 25% 30% 5 203 88 22% 28% 6 206 89 20% 25% 7 209 91 18% 23% 8 212 92 15% 21% V% Output voltage n% of the VN value Wa% Percentage of power savngs when usng halogen lamps Wd% Percentage of power savngs when usng dscharge lamps Pressng the key takes you to the lower level, whle the key takes you to the next level. When you set a new level, the value on the output voltage changes after a few seconds. The voltage values correspondng to the "RATO SELECTON" levels, refer to an deal 230VAC nput voltage. Varatons of the nput voltage correspond to varatons n output voltage.

BYPASS The regulator does not operate any energy savngs when n BYPASS mode. n fact, when t goes n ths mode, the green "SAVNG" led turns off and the yellow "BYPASS" led automatcally lt. n ths condton, the regulator output s drectly connected to the nput lne at 230V ± 15%. To enable ths mode manually, just press the key n the "BYPASS" zone. The key works n "toggle" mode then, f the regulator s n "SAVNG" mode, by pressng ths key t goes n "BYPASS" mode. nstead, f the regulator s n "BYPASS" mode t goes n "SAVNG" mode. Durng the warmup cycle, the GENUS POWER COMB automatcally enables the "BY PASS" mode. The mnmum tme spent n one of these two modes ("BYPASS" and "SAVNG") s about 3 seconds. You wll not obtan any change f you press the key before 3 seconds. t s also possble to remotely force the bypass state, usng an external control devce.

REMOTE BYPASS CONTROL f you need to force the bypass mode by usng auxlary devces, you can use the BYPASS contact. n the basc dagram, "K1" s the contact of a relay or contactor. The regulator remans n "SAVNG" mode when t s open, and the output voltage s equal to the value set n the "RATO SELECTON" parameter. f the contact s closed, the "BYPASS" termnal s drectly connected to the nput phase. The regulator mmedately goes n "BYPASS" mode, and the yellow "BYPASS" led lt and the green "SAVNG" led turns off. The output s drectly connected to the nput lne. The regulator s n bypass mode all the tme that the contact "K1" s closed.
