MAIN NAVIGATION Profile Backpack Help Sign Out TOP NAVIGATION BAR After you log into myngconnect, the navigation bar will always be available at the top of the page. The icons in the top right are the Profile, Backpack, Help, and Sign Out. Use the Profile icon to access your student account information. Use the Backpack icon to view and access available eeditions, such as the Spanish eedition, Handbooks filled with useful information, and the Online Atlas. The Help icon provides you with instant answers to your questions about using this Student eedition. Use the Sign Out icon to leave myngconnect. BACKPACK PAGE The Backpack Page, shown on the left here, is the home page of your Student eedition. To view one of the eeditions, press one of the book covers on the page. You can also use the drop-down menu that is connected to the Backpack icon in the upper right corner of your screen. Based on your school s subscription, some or all of these eeditions will be available: Student English eedition Student Spanish eedition Handbooks Online Atlas
ereader NAVIGATION Press the Table of Contents button to open the contents list and choose a specific topic. MAIN MENU You can reach all of the eeditions for this World History program through the ereader on myngconnect. The Main Menu, shown here, is the first screen you ll see when you launch the ereader. Press any of the pictures on the grid to connect to the first screen of the chapter or feature you chose. In the bottom right corner of the Main Menu, there are buttons that will help you reach the printable and digital versions of the Field Journal, an important part of this World History program. Your teacher will help you determine which version you need. Press the full-screen button to enter full-screen mode. Press escape to exit. Press the forward and back arrow buttons to move through the eedition.
ereader TABLE OF CONTENTS TABLE OF CONTENTS Open up the Table of Contents to see everything the Student eedition contains. Scroll down to find what you re looking for and press any words that do not have an arrow to their left, to get to particular places in the Student eedition. EXPANDING THE TABLE OF CONTENTS When you see a downward facing arrow to the left of a line of words in the Table of Contents, that means those words are a heading, and there is more specific information to be found below it. Press the heading and/or the arrow to expand the list and see the information hidden below the heading. Press that same text or arrow to collapse the list and hide the extra information.
SPECIAL FEATURES PHOTO POP-UP Throughout the screens of the Student eedition, you can press or to access special features, such as extra captioned photographs, graphics, and extended captions relating to the content on the screen.
VIDEOS The Student eedition contains videos of the National Geographic Explorers who host each unit, as well as other videos of Explorers featured at the chapter level and lesson level. Pressing brings you to a user-friendly video player. NOTE: We recommend you wear earbuds or headphones when using the Student eedition. Press on each Unit Introduction screen to watch a video about each Unit Explorer. Within the chapter pages, press Chapter Explorers in action. to watch videos of the Press Video Chat to find and watch video chats with Explorers who know all about the topics you re learning about.
NG CHAPTER GALLERY At the end of each chapter of the Student eedition, you can visit a Chapter Gallery, featuring amazing photographs that relate to the information you learned about in that chapter.
NG IMAGE GALLERY At the end of the Student eedition, you can access the NG Image Gallery, which contains the entire collection of Chapter Gallery images.
VOCABULARY POPUPS Key Vocabulary words are highlighted in yellow within the Student eedition. Press the Key Vocabulary words to reveal a definition pop-up.
AUDIO To hear the text read aloud, press to activate the audio. Audio player controls will pop-up and play automatically. NOTE: We recommend that you wear earbuds or headphones when using the Student eedition.
