AND THE ARIA AWARD GOES TO... Flume leads the ARIA Award wins, picking up a further 5 for his album 'Skin' Crowded House's emotional induction into ARIA Hall Of Fame ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee, Kylie Minogue surprise guest appearance with fiancé, Joshua Sasse in support of Australian Marriage Equality John Farnham's epic rendition of 'You're The Voice' closes the 30th Annual ARIA Awards on a high note

The sold out 2016 ARIA Awards Presented By Telstra held at The Star Event Centre, Sydney and broadcast on Ten, capped off an extraordinary year for the Australian music industry and showcased the talent and diversity of this year s nominated artists, as well as very special performances from ARIA Hall Of Famers - John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes and Crowded House. It was the young electronic music producer hailing from Sydney s northern beaches night, with Flume winning the coveted Telstra Album Of The Year ARIA Award for his ARIA #1 Album, Skin. He also picked up ARIAs for Best Independent Release, Best Male Artist, Best Dance Release, Best Pop Release for 'Never Be Like You' Feat Kai who was on hand to accompany Flume's glorious mash up of the 4x Platinum hit, 'Never Be Like You' and 3x Platinum single 'Say It' with Tove Lo. This adds to his haul after a clean sweep of the Artisan ARIA Awards for Producer Of The Year, Engineer Of The Year and Best Cover Art taking his overall 2016 ARIA Awards tally to eight for his album 'Skin'. The tone of the 30th celebrations was set when ARIA Award winners and hosts, powerhouse duo, The Veronicas opened the show with their #1 single 'In My Blood' bringing their jaw dropping album cover to life in head to toe body glitter. Jimmy Barnes and Jessica Mauboy performed a smashing rendition of the classic 'Good Times', originally a song from The Easybeats that was covered by Jimmy Barnes and INXS in 1987, and covered this year by Jessica Mauboy on her #1 album, 'The Secret Daughter'. Illy was joined by up and coming superstar, Vera Blue owning the stage with their sublime performance of 3x Platinum single 'Papercuts' off Illy's #1 album, 'Two Degrees'. Troye Sivan's performance was introduced by surprise guests, ARIA Hall Of Fame inductee, Kylie Minogue together with her fiancé, Joshua Sasse who took the opportunity to show their support of Australian Marriage Equality taking to the stage wearing 'Say I Do Down Under' t-shirts. Troye had the crowd under his spell wooing them with his performance of his Platinum single, Youth which went on to win Best Video and Apple Music Song Of The Year, which was presented to Troye by international superstar, Robbie Williams. Violent Soho raised the roof with their performance of 'Like Soda' before

going on to win 2x ARIA Awards for Best Rock Album and Best Group. The best was saved for last with Hall Of Fame inductee and 20x ARIA Award winner, John Farnham closing the show with an epic rendition of his worldwide hit, 'You're The Voice', which had everyone in the audience on their feet and singing along to Australia's unofficial national anthem. One of the defining moments of the evening was the induction of Crowded House - Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Paul Hester, Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod - into the ARIA Hall Of Fame by Flight of the Conchords duo Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. In a fitting tribute, Missy Higgins and Bernard Fanning, two of Australia s finest artists, performed two of the band's biggest hits, 'Fall At Your Feet and Better Be Home Soon, before Crowded House, who have come full circle since receiving the very first ARIA Award ever presented for Best Video, took to the stage with a show-stopping performance of 'Distant Sun' from the bands 1993 album 'Together Alone'. ARIA Chief Executive Officer, Dan Rosen said: 2016 has been an amazing year for Australian music and that was certainly evident by the incredible talent that graced the ARIA stage. The collection of tonight s winners, nominees and performers highlight the world-class homegrown talent that we have here in Australia. ARIA congratulates all of tonight s winners, in particular Flume, Troye Sivan & Violent Soho who all won multiple ARIA Awards. Congratulations to One Direction for their record-breaking fifth consecutive year of winning the public voted Best International Artist ARIA Award. Denis Handlin AM, ARIA Chairman and Chairman & CEO of Sony Music Entertainment Australia & New Zealand and President, Asia said: On behalf of the ARIA Board, I would like to congratulate all the winning artists and nominees at the 2016 ARIA Awards Presented By Telstra. It has also been our honour to welcome Crowded House into the ARIA Hall of Fame. This year s ARIA Awards have been a great success, with our incredibly talented artists demonstrating the profound impact and diversity of Australian music. We would like to thank all of the 2016 ARIA Awards partners Destination NSW, Network TEN, Telstra, The Star, David Jones, Pepsi, Qantas and PPCA for their valued support in making the 30th ARIA Awards celebrations such a wonderful event. The 2016 ARIA Awards Presented By Telstra kicked off in spectacular style

on the Red Carpet Presented By David Jones with the red carpet show going live for the first time on Facebook. NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres said: Sydney knows how to throw a party and tonight s ARIAs are a fitting birthday for the Aussie music awards. I congratulate this year s winners on their achievements and look forward to welcoming the industry back to Sydney for the 2017 ARIA Awards. Music fans around the world joined the conversation around the ARIAs using the hashtag #ARIAs which was the #1 trending topic throughout the event. ARIA thanks Telstra for bringing fans closer to the music they love by giving them a unique ARIA Awards experience with exclusive behind the scenes entertainment and capturing celebratory moments with the winners, presenters and performers of this year s ARIAs at telstra.com/arias. ARIA extends its thanks and gratitude to our fabulous hosts, The Veronicas and the wonderful red carpet hosts, Havana Brown, Didier Cohen and Jai Waetford as well as the wonderful presenters at 2016 ARIA Awards Presented By Telstra: Ben Lee, Charli XCX (UK), Dave Hughes, Flight Of The Conchords, Katie Noonan, Kyle Sandilands, James Arthur (UK), Jimmy Barnes, John Butler, Kasey Chambers, Matt and Alex, Robbie Williams (UK), Roy & HG, Scott Tweedie & Olivia Phyland, Sheppard, Smallzy, Sophie Monk, Steve Aoki, Tim Rogers and Washington. As we bid goodnight to this year s celebration of 30 years of the ARIA Awards, we are grateful for the opportunity for ARIA and the music industry to commemorate its incredible history, amazing artists and moments that have captured the nation s imagination.
