Hackensack Meridian Health's Certified Diabetic Educator, Mrs. Jane Hassay, will be doing a presentation on diabetes and heart disease. An array of topics will be discussed related to these issues like weight control and nutrition. Please bring your questions for this informative and life-saving talk. THE EDISON LIBRARY LETTER 3 North American Disease Intervention (NADI) Healthy Fair! NADI is an organization whose purpose is to raise awareness of diabetes and hypertension, while also providing the diagnostic and educational tools necessary to lead a preventative lifestyle. NADI volunteers will be available from 12 pm 3 pm to check blood pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI), fat percentage, grip strength, and pulse oximetry screenings. All of these checks will be done free of cost. Learn gentle yoga with positions designed to help balance the body, soul and spirit. Classes will be every Monday at 10 am. THE EDISON LIBRARY LETTER 6 Coding for Kids: Scratch Programming Saturday January 12 th 2019 at 2 pm Open to Grades 3-6 Scratch is a programming tool designed by MIT that introduces kids to programming concepts. It uses snap-together and colorfully organized blocks to create programs that can do anything from simulating a game to playing a movie using visual programming! Please bring your own laptop and plan to arrive on time. Instructions will not be repeated due to time constraint. WeDo: Robotics Saturday January 19 th 2019 at 2 pm Open to Grades 3-6 WeMake 4H invites all young makers for a WeDo Robotics class. In this class kids will learn robotics using WeDo 2.0. The Edison Public Libraries have brand new citizenship corners for the community. The citizenship corners are full of books to help guide you along the process as well as a lot of fantastic resources to help answer some of your questions. The USCIS has donated vocabulary flash cards, civics test flash cards, welcome booklets, civics test question booklets, naturalization forms and more to the library. These resources and more are available for free to all community members at all three of our libraries.
