Uppsala University s graphic guidelines The graphic guidelines are our tool for strengthening the identity and visibility of Uppsala University as the source of communications. Everyone has a responsibility to convey a consistent and professional image of the University in all communications, from printed and online material to signs and trade fairs. All Uppsala University employees must comply with these graphic guidelines. The Communications Division has overarching responsibility for evaluating and developing the graphic guidelines. The graphic guidelines are based on a few basic rules, which are presented here. 2

The logo The logo is a registered trademark and must not be manipulated. The seal and the text Uppsala universitet together comprise the Uppsala University logo in both national and international contexts. The logo exists only in Swedish. The name Uppsala universitet and the seal must not be separated. The logo exists in three versions (see illustration): red seal with black text black seal with black text white seal with white text (shown here against a black background) Choose the logo that best suits the background. Make sure you achieve a clear contrast. X Y X Clear zone The logo has a margin, a clear zone. If the border colour is the same as the background (such as a white border on a white cover), the lower edge is to be marked with a 0.5 p black line. 1/5 Logo in label (vertical layout) The logo is placed at the lower edge of the label, whose width comprises 1/5 of the width of the area. The seal The seal may be used as a decorative element in a cropped form, as in the examples shown here, but only in combination with the complete logo. Red Profile colours Uppsala University s profile colours are red, white, grey and black. White RED: CMYK: Cyan 0%, Magenta 91%, Yellow 72%, Black 23% RGB: 153/0/0 Pantone 187 NCS (Paint): S 2070-R The red colour must not be tinted and must always be reproduced at 100%. Grey GREY: Reproduced in different percentages of black: 5 90% If a grey border is used, it may only be reproduced in 10% black. In external communications, Gill and/or Berling are always used. In internal communications, Arial and/or Times may be used. Supplementary fonts To reinforce a message, a third font of your choice may be used in headings in combination with Gill and/or Berling. Special characters Dissertations and scholarly publications sometimes require the use of special characters (for example, α β Σ Φ Ψ Ω ) that are not available in the limited character set in Berling or Gill.
