COMMODORE S COMMENTS First, let me wish everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year. I am in the planning stages for the January 17 th planning meeting. Hopefully, everyone will come up with some good and new ideas and adventures for our BOATING group. I have had sometime to look over a few of the files that Scott turned over to me. I have, in turn, had a meeting with a few of the board members who could be present January 4th. I want to thank Lynn Verhasselt, Sam Graubner, Connie Heyden, Dave Schneckenberg, Judy & Dave Dorner, and Scott Burke, who expressed some of their ideas and concerns. I have also looked at the budgets from 2017-2018 and the 2019 for our income and expenses. I will bring these points and concerns to the general membership meeting January 17 th. We must also look at how to increase our membership. We will also be discussing the 2019 calendar, which Lynn has prepared for our planning meeting. As a side note, I am always available to hear your concerns or ideas regarding Milwaukee Boat Club. Just call me at 414-791-8439. Miller Holiday Lights- December 8th Eighteen MBC members and one guest, Robin (Ken and Sandy's daughter) enjoyed a cold winter s eve at the Miller Lite Brewery Tour. A short video, a lighted musical walk to view the light show with music and a bit of snow flurries, and then a short tour of the Miller Cave before we all headed to the Stables for various beer tastings accompanied with pretzels and visits by Bernie Brewer and the Johnsonville Sausages. After an entertaining tour, we headed to McGinn's on Bluemound for a bit of warm food and libations. A great way to start the holiday season. Welcome to Freddy Miller s House Sam & George. Remembering Jim Goodnetter, Founding Member of Milwaukee Boat Club James Michael Goodnetter, [90 ¾ as he liked to say] of Fort Myers Beach, FL and Brookfield WI, was born February 9, 1928. He passed away peacefully in the presence of family on Monday, December 10, 2018, to join his beloved wife, Ann, and his dear parents, Alvin and Manilla Goodnetter. Jim was an avid boater and joined the Outboard Runabout Boating Club (now Milwaukee Boat Club) as a founding member in 1957. He maintained his other boating memberships in the Milwaukee Sail & Power Squadron (50+ years), South Shore Yacht Club (Lifetime Member) and Fort Myers Beach Yacht Club (since 1994) until his final days. He and a good friend rebuilt a 38 foot wooden Chris Craft in the 1960 s which received acclaim and good use. A loving father and husband, he took his family on many boating excursions on Lake Michigan, local lakes, and rivers, in addition to journeys down the Mississippi River, the Intercostal, and the Gulf of Mexico.
