Quatandre or trombone quartet (:20) Program Notes The work oens its irst seven measures by introducing the basic motives on which the work then develos; namely, glissando igures, yramided chord buildus, hand-oed mouthiece ercussive eects, and measured tremolos. The irst (and last) section o the iece develo rhythmic and glissando gestures structured in a variety o meter signatures. This gives way to a section o harmonic develoment through chord yramids. A two art middle section rovides irst a thinning o texture, then a short contrauntal section culminating in a slower, more homohonic section beore returning to material based on the irst and second sections to uniy and close out the work. Quatandre was irst erormed at the 2005 International Trombone estival in New Orleans by the 20-member New Orleans Trombone Choir under the direction o Milton Bush. Comoser Bio Wisconsin native Ken Davies (www.kendavies.net) has had acoustic and electronic works erormed at numerous new music estivals such as the Society o Comosers, Electroacoustic Barn Dance, Southeastern Comosers League (he is a ast resident), Electronic Music Midwest, International Trombone estival, National Association o Comosers USA, Christian ellowshi o Art Music Comosers, Parma Music estival, London New Wind estival (UK), and Sonic Coast (UK).!!Since 2002, he resides in coastal south Mississii. His music studies were at the University o Wisconsin at Madison, Yale School o Music, Middle Tennessee State University at Murreesboro (MA trombone), and the University o Colorado at Boulder (MM comosition).
