(Format, Paragraph, Indention/Special, Hanging, By 0.5 ) Indicate the medium of publication (material type) Print, Web, DVD, etc. Alphabetize your reference list by the authors last names. If there is no author, list the title first, and alphabetize the source by the title. If the title begins with a number, alphabetize as though the number were spelled out. (9 Short Stories would be alphabetized as though it were Nine Short Stories). Titles of short stories, chapters of books, or magazine articles: Use quotation marks. Capitalize important words (not prepositions, a, an, the, etc., except at the beginning of the title). End with a period inside the quotation marks. Titles of books, journals, or magazines: Italicize the title Capitalize important words (not prepositions, a, an, the, etc., except at the beginning of the title). End with a period.
