The Art Of How To Harmonize Your Home

What Is? is an ancient art and science which was formalized as a practice over 3,000 years ago in China. In literal translation feng means "wind" and shui means "water." In Chinese culture, wind and water are associated with good health, thus good feng shui came to mean good fortune. Some elements of practice date back at least 6,000 years, and contains elements of various branches of scholarly study, including physics, philosophy, astronomy, and astrology. It is related closely to closely to the Taoist vision and understanding of nature, particularly the idea that the land is alive and filled with Chi, or energy. Other concepts shared between and Taoism include the polarities of Yin and Yang - the polar opposites that cannot exist without the other - and the theory of the five elements. is sometimes thought to be the art of placement, or simply the understanding of how the placement of yourself and objects within a space affects your life. It is a complex body of knowledge that teaches us how to balance and harmonize with the energies in any given space, be it a home, office, or garden. Its aim is to assure good fortune for the people inhabiting a space. Sometimes regarded by the scientific community as a pseudo-science, has had a major impact on the aesthetics of interior design and the architectural layout of living and working spaces, both in its native eastern and, more recently, western cultures. Good fortune comes in many forms - better health, a successful career, or a fulfilling love life. practice includes detailed tips for almost every area of your life. The main tools used in analyzing the feng shui of any space are the feng shui compass and the bagua.

Two Basic Principles Of The Principle Of Yin And Yang At the core of this principle lies a belief that a balance of the feminine (Yin) and the masculine (Yang) in our lives is necessary to maintain a good flow of Chi and a content, happy, successful life. The Taoist theory of Yin and Yang is essential to. In Taoist and theory, Yin and Yang are opposites that are dependent upon one another and which must always be in balance. The principle of duality, the idea that all things are balanced, the blend of two things, is at the root of yin/yang theory. While most other spiritual philosophies believe in opposing dualities, such as good vs. evil, the Chinese Taoist system believes that balance and equilibrium between opposites is the desirable state. Discord occurs when one principle outweighs the other. The Principle Of The 5 Elements Also central to Taoism and is the theory of five elements. By tradition, practice holds that all things consist of varying degrees of five elements. In the feng shui system, wood, fire, earth, metal, and water are the five elements, and each is represented by certain colors that can help us bring harmony to a particular space. The five elements can interact in any number of ways, some constructive and some destructive. In the constructive cycle, for example, water provides moisture for trees (wood) to grow; wood then becomes a fuel for fire; the residue of fire is ash or soil; the ash/soil is the essence of earth minerals that form metals; and as metal cool, they allow water to condense, completing the cycle. In a destructive cycle, on the other hand, metal can cut wood; and wood can grow over and consume soil.

The Bagua The energy map, or Bagua, is an octagonal grid containing the symbols of the I Ching, the ancient oracle on which is based. Knowing the Bagua (pronounced "bag-wha") of your home and of the rooms within it will help you understand the connection between different areas and specific aspects of your life experience. The Bagua is essentially a mapping chart by which you can assess and improve how different parts of the home affect specific areas of your life, such as love, health, or wealth. You can use it to determine how to position furniture and other objects within the room for the maximum positive benefit. The Bagua map is used by first orienting yourself to the main entrance to the house, or the entry to an individual room, then using the map to identify the different key areas of the space. Then, specific items can be positioned in those key areas to enhance their. For example, the place defined as the wisdom area is a good place for a small stack of books, while the love/relationship space is a good place for a wedding photo.

The Compass A feng shui compass is a specialized form of an ordinary magnetic compass. In fact, the magnetic compass was originally invented for use in, as a tool for positioning buildings and objects within buildings in accordance with cardinal directions for specific purposes. Before the invention of the compass, directions were determined by astronomical instruments, such as the astrolabe. Also called a Luo-Pan, the compass is used to access deeper information about a site or a building. It consists of bands of concentric rings arranged around the magnetic needle. In Chinese, luo means "everything" and pan means "bowl." This can be interpreted to mean that the compass contains all the mysteries of the universe. The feng shui compass is used to determine the proper orientation when using the Bagua energy map. In order to take an accurate reading for your work, you do not necessarily need a traditional compass, just an accurate magnetic one. If you decide to go deeper, owning a traditional compass can bring more complex insights to your work.

The 5 Elements Of Very simply, they are the basic elements of life: fire, earth, metal, water, and wood. In the ancient practice of, we understand these elements to be more than actual flames, or dirt, or pieces of wood. These elements are universal energetic essences, each with their own flavor of chi. They are phases; how energy can shift in quality and purpose between one state to the next. When you hear the word chi you can simply think of energy. How much, or what type, of energy does a person, place, or thing have? When you walk into a room, does it energize you, or make you feel drained? Some days, you may wake up enlivened, full of buoyancy, and other days you may feel like you can barely get yourself to work. Maybe there is a place in nature that has a certain kind of power to it. All these examples can be attributed to chi, and chi guides our practice of. Practitioners of will talk about each of the Five Elements as having a signature of chi. Start by thinking about each of the elements, and how they might make you feel. To understand the energies of each element you need to bring to mind what they are like in nature.

How To Create A Harmonious Home wisdom places a big importance on the center of your place, also called the Heart of the Home. It is a sacred energy spot from where all the other energies (called bagua areas) of your home originate. Keeping the center of your home clean, open and clutter-free is a must for a healthy and harmonious home. The Importance of North, South, East and West In feng shui terms, each area of your house is connected to a specific area of your life. For example, the East feng shui area of your home is "responsible" for the energy of health and family, while the Southwest area is connected to the energy of love relationships and marriage. Know Your Home Bagua In order to successfully apply in your home, it is always helpful to know your home bagua. The bagua, or feng shui energy map of your home, is used to access the relationship between the physical space and the lives of people who live in that space. However, just knowing the bagua is not enough as a good feng shui home is a home that has fresh and clean energy. So, ideally, you would start applying your feng shui cures only after clearing your clutter.

Start By Clearing Out Clutter Living in a clutter-free home will bring amazing clarity and heightened energy levels into your life. A home free of clutter will also be able to really benefit from your decorating efforts and nourish the good energy. There are so many ways to bring more harmony at home with feng shui, some simple, some very complex. It is best start with basics. 5 Tips For A Harmonious Home 1. Have many happy images of your family throughout the house, especially in the living room/family room, kitchen and dining, as well as the East feng shui area of your home. 2. Apply feng shui in your bedroom, as well as the bedrooms of your children. A harmonious home much depends on the energy in your bedroom. 3. Balance the energy in your home according to the five feng shui elements by bringing the most harmonious colors. Start with easy color tips, then if you so desire go into more complex color applications. 4. Be mindful about the EMF levels in your home; choose to create a healthy home. 5. Use feng shui energy purifiers, such as essential oils, crystals and candles to bring harmony, calm and balance into your space.

Quality Air & Light These two elements are essential for good energy (called Chi) in your home. Open the windows often, introduce air-purifying plants or use an air purifier. Allow as much natural light as possible into your home, and consider using full-spectrum lights. Define Your Homes Energy Map Define the Bagua, or the energy map of your house, by using one of the two main methods: the classical school Bagua or the BTB grid. Once you define the Bagua, you will know which areas of your home are connected to specific areas of your life. For example, in traditional feng shui, the Southeast feng shui area of your home is connected to the flow of money energy in your life. Create Harmony Remove your shoes before entering your home Form a habit of leaving the stress of your work, commuting or bad days outside and cast out the worries, troubles and dirt of the outside world. It s a purposeful way to allow only peaceful energy to come inside. Do a space cleansing and house blessing Remove negative energy, sadness, fear, anger or disappointments from the past and spread fresh energy for attracting new opportunities. Space cleaning can be done by burning sage and walking throughout the house while whispering words of love and prosperity Turn your home into your castle Create a space filled with love and free from tension with the things you love and from which you can feel good chi emanate.

Use Enhancers The magic happens when placing certain items in specific Bagua zones corresponding to the area of life you wish to enhance. Some have symbolic power meaningful only to you, others a real connection to the electromagnetic energy of that area but both are placed to improve and emit energy. What makes enhancers work, is when you see that object or symbol, you are reminded of the energy it attracts and emits. For those few seconds that you focus on it, you re reminded of your goal or dream (the reason you placed it there), and thus your thoughts attract that energy. For instance, if you chose an object that reminds you of a constant money flow, and you see it every day, you re constantly reminded of abundance flowing to you. The object in itself isn t bringing in the flow of abundance, it s the meaning you ve attached to it which makes you experience the flow of it, and through that gets attracted to you. Feng shui coins to attract the energy of wealth and money. Choose Colors For Harmony Soft and neutral colors provide a sense of calm. Incorporate blues, lavenders, greens, peaches and other soothing earthtones into paint, bedding, artwork, fabrics or decorative objects. Choose the colors that make you feel happy and peaceful, then find a way to introduce them into various spaces. Overuse of white can cause what is referred to as a white occurence delivering too much cold energy, so it s important to add other touches of color to offset this effect.

& Sound Soothing Sounds of Nature. Create a playlist of natural sounds, such as gentle waves, mountain streams, chirping birds or a gentle breeze through the leaves. When you listen to sounds of nature, your heart-rate slows down, your breathing becomes more expansive and your nerves calmed. Sound Healing. Incorporate a melodious tingle of large bells, chimes, or a Tibetan singing bowl. Remember to concentrate especially on dark corners where sunlight is not accessible, to move the energy into a higher vibration. Intention Good intention is the key ingredient in whether or not the steps taken to attract positivity qi will result in success or not. So everything about must be done with the intention of its effectiveness and not in doubt of its efficacy. A positive frame of mind with a benevolent outlook, healthy respect for oneself and others, is the magic mantra which invites in wellbeing. By applying, the subtle energies of your spaces support and promote your aspirations, whether for greater abundance, health, romance, and companionship, or simply to reignite a renewed zest for life. When your space is calm, your thoughts slow down and you can begin to hear the guidance from your soul. When you design a healthy living environment with the above mentioned feng shui basics, you will feel relaxed, rejuvenated and inspired to move towards your dreams and where everything transcends into an effortless energy flow. A flow that brings about happiness, peace and prosperity.
