AIM OF THE COMPETITION: To foster professional interest in classical values of piano music as well as in innovations of Contemporary piano music in children and young people. COMPETITION TASKS: 1. Motivate pupils of Piano Performance program to develop their talent and skills in various music styles from Baroque era to Contemporary. 2. Develop the creative, technical and artistic growth in pupils and promote stage experience. 3. Promote the value of Classical music and modern innovations in the piano playing. 4. Acquire new international connections and provide the exchange of experience between national and foreign music schools. 5. Discover and support new talents in piano playing. CONTESTANTS, CATEGORIES, AGE GROUPS, COMPETITION PROGRAM, TIME-LIMITS The Contestants are pupils of educational program Piano performance musician The Competition is held in 4 categories, in 4 age groups. RULES OF THE COMPETITION The Competition is open and will be organized in one round for a duration of one day. An original composition must be played. For the musical piece of free the Contestant may choose an original piece, an arrangement or an non-academic musical piece (the author of the arrangement must be specified in the application). Upon arrival to the Competition, the sheet music must be submitted to the Jury. The Contestants must perform their program from memory. The performance program submitted in the application can t be changed. The order of performances is regulated by the Organizers of the Competition. Upon submitting the application, the Participants give their agreement that during the Competition they will be filmed and recorded by the Organizers as well as that they are informed of the presence of mass media. The Participants perform in formal attire. Travel, accommodation and food expenses are paid by contestants themselves. The participation fee is EUR 25 from a contestant. The Organizers of the competition shall have the right to request an official identity document from the Contestants to make sure that he/she is in the right age group. The application forms must be sent by 26 October. Competition and the procedure of payment will be sent by 31 October. EVALUATION AND AWARDING The Contestants will be evaluated by a Jury constituting of no less than three persons, created and approved by The Centre of Competency Based Professional Education Liepaja Music, Art and Design Secondary School. The members of the Jury will be announced in the location of the Competition. Pupils of the Jury members are not allowed to participate in this Competition. In case of failure to follow the rules of Competition Regulation, the Contestant may be disqualified. The performance of the Contestant will be evaluated in 25 point system. The decision of the Jury is final and indisputable.
Contestants will be awarded with 1st, 2nd, 3rd place diploma, prizes and distinctions. Distinctions for the preparation of the pupils will be given to the teachers of Contestants as well. The Jury holds the right to not grant one of the awards or prizes. The awarding will take place after the end of each category.
