The University of Szeged Faculty of Music Dean s Welcome I would like to personally welcome you to investigate the Faculty of Music at the University of Szeged which dates back over 125 years and is one of the leading higher education institutions in Hungary. We provide our students from abroad not only a rich history, but one of the deepest musical legacies in Europe. Please explore our Faculty of Music and all it has to offer. The University of Szeged Faculty of Music has an outstanding international reputation and is well noted for its musical excellence. Our Faculty traces its roots back to 1883 and was led by composer and musician Endre Szögi. Today our faculty and students regularly perform in Europe, North America and throughout the world. The University is situated in the City of Szeged (the fourth largest city in Hungary) and has many ties to great masters and noted musicians, such as Franz Liszt who spent many years studying here. Béla Bartók debuted as a composer here in 1910 and Zoltán Kodály was born just 50 miles away. Others include renowned conductor Ferenc Fricsay, pianist György Sebők and pianist/composer Jenő Huszka to name but a few National Theater, Szeged The Faculty of Music had operated as part of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music until 1998; and soon after became the 11th faculty of the University of Szeged. The impressive performance venues available to our students include: the Fricsay Ferenc Concert Hall, Liszt Ferenc Chamber Hall as well as student access to the Reök Palace and the National Theater of Szeged. In addition to offering Bachelor and Master s Degrees in Performance as well as Music Education, our International Performing Faculty ensures that the long legacy and rich traditions of Hungarian music is carried on. Jiang Xuezhi Faculty of Economics - The University of Szeged is a well-known and internationally ranked institution in Hungary and world-wide. It is such a wonderful experience to study here. Instructors are Professional and well-qualified; students are nice and open to foreign cultures. Events are organized by the Faculties are pleasant and help integration and provide the opportunity to get new acquaintances and friends. Gergő Nagy Faculty of Arts I have always been interested in foreign cultures and loved to learn languages. I chose the Slavonic - Russian specialization as the University of Szeged is famous for its mobility programmes, such as Erasmus+ which is very useful when studying or doing an Internship abroad. Moreover, I could take the English minor after finishing first year, which is a great asset considering my future career. Focusing on practice is the centre of Language education at SZTE. Among the international mobility programmes, the ERASMUS+ programme of the European Union is the most popular, within the frames of which the University cooperates with 423 partner universities in 31 countries on the basis of 783 bilateral agreements. The University of Szeged has been participating in the Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies (CEEPUS) since 1994, achieving common curriculum development, the exchange of students on scholarships, and organizing summer schools with 65 partner universities in 9 networks. Interstate Agreements In close cooperation with the Hungarian Rectors Conference and thebalassi Institute, the University of Szeged plays an active role in receiving foreign students arriving in the framework of interstate agreements, as a result of which everbetter relations have been achieved with embassies and consulates throughout the world.
