You may mark your answers on this booklet while you are working on them. Answer all the questions. Give only one answer for each question. READING & USAGE EXERCISE 1: Numbers 16 to 25 Read the texts. Then do the exercises on page 4. Ways to Travel City bikes City bikes are a great way to go round a town or city. They look like the bikes cyclists use for races, but they're cheaper and don t go as fast. They're light, so you can easily pick them up and put them on the train to go into town. Then, you can ride around, do some shopping or visit friends. You can put a basket on a city bike to carry bags and small boxes. There s only one seat, which is called a 'saddle'. You get good exercise on a bicycle, so riding one is very good for you. But be careful around cars! Motorbikes Children can't ride motorbikes, but some adults like riding them. Motorbikes go faster than bikes. In fact, most motorbikes can go as fast as cars on city streets. But on big roads between cities, cars go a lot faster and that can be dangerous for people on motorbikes. Also, long rides can make you tired. So, it s best to use a motorbike for short journeys in town to go shopping or to get to work. Most motorbikes have a second seat behind the driver, so two people can ride together. Segways Have you ever seen a Segway? It's a fun way to travel around standing up! Segway's have two wheels. You stand between the wheels and hold a T-shaped bar. The bottom of the Segway is heavy so it won t fall over, but it s only big enough for one person. They make Segways in the USA, but now you can see them all over Europe and Asia. Segways are popular with people on holiday. They use them to look round a city so their feet don t get tired. If you re in Athens or another holiday area this summer, you may see people riding Segways!
