Signed by the author on the publisher s tipped in decorative front flyleaf. One of a handful of book length works to be penned by the great western historian, Dale Morgan. According to Saunders Great Salt Lake dealt more with the historical context of the lake than the body of water itself, describing the epocal [sic] history of the lake itself, early exploration and mapping, the settlement of Salt Lake City, tourism and recreation, and the advent of railroads beside and across the lake. Besides his incomplete history of the Mormons, this work contains the only published example of Morgan s historical treatment of his religious culture. In a dust jacket, with toning, and several minor chips to the edges. Second novel by the winner of the Nero Wolfe award and best-selling author. Denver is set in the roaring twenties and follows newspaper reporter Tom Hastings as he unravels a story involving the KKK and the frontier government of Denver. Denver has gone through two printings, and as Mr. Dunning s fame and fan base have grown it has become increasingly harder to find in good shape. According to the author, the first printing was about 5,000 copies. Price: $500 (14) Stegner, Wallace The Women on the Wall Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1950.
